ARC Raiders: A Lay of the Land Quest Guide and Walkthrough

In ARC Raiders, missions will send you to a huge variety of locations! You’ll explore everything from the peaks of tall mountains and hidden, locked rooms to the insides of ARC’s dangerous robots.

These quests vary in length – some take just a few minutes, while others require extensive exploration of the game world to find small items. “A Lay of the Land” is one of the more time-consuming quests, but with careful preparation and knowing what to look for, you can complete it efficiently.

Okay, so I’m going to walk you through how to finish this quest really quickly, and then I’ll tell you what awesome stuff you get for doing it! It’s pretty great, trust me.

Quest Prerequisites

You’ll need to finish the quest “A Reveal in Ruins” – and a series of quests leading up to it – before you can start this one. Just concentrate on completing Celeste’s story and following Lance’s instructions, and this quest will become available.

To complete ‘A Lay of the Land,’ you’ll need to explore the map, starting at the Jiangsu Warthouse in the northwest. After finding the first item there, head to the Control Tower to find the last one, then return to your starting point.

This must be done in one run of the map. If you fail, you’ll have to start from scratch.

Let me tell you, this place is HUGE, and finding what you need can take forever! I seriously recommend bringing some adrenaline shots – they really help you move faster and save time. I started my run with only about 20 minutes to spare, and it was a super close call getting out! Just a warning – don’t underestimate how long things will take.

Also, be sure to bring a distraction and something to deal with big ARC units, because Bastions often position themselves near the control building. I nearly got caught by one with just two minutes left!

Definitely bring a Spare Hatch Key with you. This has saved my life countless times.

Steps to Completion

Start by loading the Spaceport map. Then, head northwest towards the Jiangsu Warehouse. Hopefully, you’ll spawn nearby, but if not, it’s best to stay along the edges of the map, since the central area can get very crowded.

Once you enter the main warehouse, look for a room above that overlooks the center. Go upstairs and enter the Foreman’s Office. You’ll find some notes on the desk, with drawers underneath. It’s likely no one has searched here yet, so feel free to take what you need.

Once you have the notes, go southeast to the Control Tower Building. The scanners are located inside, in the eastern, damaged office area. The parts you need are hidden behind some barriers in the southern part of that same area. You might need to backtrack a little once you enter the room to find the scanners.

Once you’ve grabbed the quest item, it’s time to get out of there. If you can, head to one of the main extraction points. But if you’re in a hurry, there’s a Raider hatch right in front of the control tower. Use the zipline to get down, then quickly run over to the hatch. Be careful, though – I saw a guard patrolling that area!

Rewards

Once you finish this quest, you’ll start the next one, called “Eyes in the Sky.” In it, you’ll use the scanners you’ve earned to set up observation points at various locations on different maps.
