How to Beat Onmoraki in Nioh 3

Nioh 3 features some truly bizarre boss fights, like battles against cat-like women riding wheels, demons that use steam to create illusions, and even a pair of statues fused together.

Onmoraki isn’t that strange when you consider other video game monsters, is it? It’s a large, frightening creature, but what really makes it stand out is that it’s made of stitched-together souls, and its roar sounds like an elephant! That combination makes it one of the most uniquely bizarre bosses in Nioh 3.

The Onmoraki might look and sound strange, but don’t underestimate it! This bird is a serious threat and will quickly ruin your day if you’re not prepared. You’ll need a good plan to defeat it and send it back to where it came from – the Shin Megami Tensei game series.

Onmoraki, being a bird, flies above the player, making it a difficult target. It also attacks from a distance using its wings and wind magic, so watch out for attacks coming from anywhere in the arena.

Attack Description Response
Tornado Blast Onmoraki floats in the air and fires four tornados at the ground. Parry or dodge
Stomp Onmoraki stomps on the ground from the air. Ninja dodge.
Wing Spin Onmoraki spins on the spot, using its wings as blades. Parry
Vile Breath Onmoraki exhales a yellowish-green liquid in a beam for a surprisingly long time. Run towards Onmoraki and try to get under it.
Beak Basher Onmoraki attempts to stab the player with its beak. Parry
Yokai Breath Onmoraki breathes out blasts that leave zones of Yokai energy where they strike, creating undead. Dodge them, then Ki Pulse to get rid of them if they’re near the center of the arena. Kill the undead if they get too close.
Dive Onmoraki dives at the player. Ninja dodge.
Tornado Wall Onmoraki creates a wall of tornadoes that fly towards the player. Parry
Yokai Bomb Onmoraki flies into the air, gathers silver Yokai energy into its body, then drops it onto the ground in a massive AoE blast. Heal up to full, then block.
Grab Black and yellow dots appear around Onmoraki’s beak, and it lunges forward to attempt to grab the player. Run towards Onmoraki and dash into its body.

Onmoraki constantly makes irritating noises like an elephant during battle, so you might want to turn down the volume.

Onmoraki is one of the most airborne enemies in Nioh 3, rivaled only by Great Tengu. Even though it spends much of the fight flying, you can still damage it using ranged attacks like bows and rifles, or with Ninja Arts. It’s a good idea to equip both a bow and a rifle for maximum effectiveness.

You can also damage Onmoraki by jumping and attacking. The Ninja is especially good at this because they’re faster and can move to avoid attacks while in the air.

Even though Onmoraki is huge, it’s surprisingly easy to block its attacks. While its hits are strong, they’re also predictable, so the best approach is to get close using the Samurai stance when Onmoraki is on the ground, and carefully block and counterattack. If Onmoraki takes to the air, switch to the Ninja stance and use your long-range attacks to bring it back down.
