Okay, so looking good isn’t super important in Nioh 3 when you’re fighting, but let’s be real, I want my character to look awesome while kicking demon butt! Good news is, the game lets you change how you look later on if you regret your initial choices. Plus, you can ‘transmog’ your gear – basically, make it look like something else – so you can be stylish without sacrificing stats. Here’s how I figured out how to change my appearance and transmog my equipment in Nioh 3.
How To Change Appearance In Nioh 3
If you want to change how your character looks in Nioh 3, go to the Eternal Rift and find the mirror in the northern house upstairs. Select the “Change Appearance” option, and it will take you to the character customization menu.
Feel free to customize your character however you like! You can go back to any of the seven sections to add details or completely change your character’s build. Just like when you started the game, you can also use a code to load a character created by another player.
How To Transmog Equipment In Nioh 3
You can change how your armor and weapons look in the same mirror you use to alter your character’s appearance in the Eternal Rift. Select Equipment Appearance to ‘transmog’ your gear – meaning you can customize each piece to look however you want. You can even hide your equipment completely while still benefiting from any special effects it provides.
This also applies to weapons. You can customize how a weapon looks, but you can’t change what weapon it is. For instance, if you’re using a Tonfa with the Ninja Style, you can only change its appearance – you can’t turn it into a different weapon. Plus, you can only customize weapons you’re currently holding, so remember that.
Even if you upgrade to better weapons or armor for specific bosses, your character’s appearance won’t automatically change. To remove or update how your gear looks, you’ll need to revisit the Eternal Rift.
How To Unlock Eternal Rift In Nioh 3
In Nioh 3, the Eternal Rift acts like a peaceful refuge. It’s a timeless area where you can reconnect with former mentors and receive new quests from them. These quests become available through the Battle Scroll at the Shrine.
During the main quest called The Hamamatsu Incident, Ii Naotora will give you a mirror. Using this mirror instantly takes your character to the Eternal Rift, where you can find a Blacksmith and discover other hidden areas.
Once you’ve explored the Eternal Rift, go north to the building and take the stairs up to the second floor. Don’t talk to the character there—just go straight into the single room on that floor.
Approach the mirror to start changing your appearance and transmogging equipment in Nioh 3.
