Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition’s Absence From The Nintendo Direct Has Fans Worried

The recent Nintendo Direct showcased a variety of games from other companies heading to the Switch 2. Titles like Fallout 4, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Hi-Fi Rush will add to the console’s selection of games not made by Nintendo. However, some highly anticipated games were missing from the presentation, leaving fans eager for updates.

As a huge Elden Ring fan, I’m really hoping we get the Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2! It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything official, and it’s a little concerning. I heard the version they were showing at Gamescom 2025 wasn’t quite ready, which pushed the release back to 2026. Now that it didn’t show up at the latest Nintendo Direct, a lot of us are starting to worry about whether it will actually happen. I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but the silence is definitely making me nervous!

Fans Are Disappointed With Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition’s Absence From The Nintendo Direct

From the beginning, a Switch 2 version of Elden Ring faced challenges, and fans were hoping for good news at the recent showcase. Its absence has caused concern, leading many to believe the game’s development is struggling. The fact that even the Gamescom 2025 build isn’t finished is particularly worrying.

A Twitter user named SKCasuality claims the rumors of ‘Duskbloods’ and ‘Tarnished’ editions are false, calling them a deliberate hoax created by FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki to mislead fans. They don’t believe either game will be released on consoles anytime soon.

Raala The Pure believes, “We’re never getting Tarnished edition. It’s just a skin pack.”

Jonkenstonk eagerly asked when the ‘Tarnished Edition’ of the game would be released, stating he’d happily pay the same price as the ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ expansion for it. He playfully questioned FromSoftware about keeping fans waiting. Devin jokingly suggested the ‘Tarnished Edition’ might be a reference to the community built around the game.
