In Nioh 3, mastering Martial Arts and Ninjutsu can significantly boost your character’s power. You unlock these abilities by spending points earned in each combat style’s skill tree. To create a truly effective build, you’ll need to find and collect Samurai and Ninja Locks throughout the game, which are used to learn new skills.
How To Get Samurai And Ninja Locks In Nioh 3
In Nioh 3, players can earn Samurai and Ninja Locks in several ways. One method is by finishing Missions and Myths – quests you’ll find as you explore the game world.
You can also search the bodies of fallen enemies for keys – they often carry one of the two locks needed to progress, particularly if the body is near a powerful enemy, as those enemies tend to drop better items.
The adorable yokai, Scampuss and Chijiko, have a chance to drop Samurai or Ninja Locks if you can successfully approach and pet them. To get to them, you’ll need to follow Scampuss until it stops running, and shoot Chijiko down from the sky before you can pet it.
Players can obtain locks in several ways, such as opening specific chests or raising their Exploration Level. This makes it easy to collect Samurai and Ninja Locks simply by exploring the game world and finishing quests.
How To Use Samurai And Ninja Locks In Nioh 3
Samurai and Ninja Locks have been updated to Samurai and Ninja Points. Players can use these points to unlock new Martial Arts for Samurai, Ninjutsu for Ninja, or general Common Arts for both. Plus, each weapon now has its own skill tree within the Martial Arts/Ninjutsu menu, allowing players to learn unique attacks.
After you learn new skills, go to the Customize Martial Arts/Ninjutsu menu to assign them to commands. This menu also lets you adjust settings for your fighting style and choose which weapons you want to use.

Certain martial arts and Ninjutsu techniques become available after completing specific quests. These quests usually begin in the Eternal Rift by talking to your former masters. You can start them by interacting with the Shrine and opening the Battle Scroll. The quests you need to complete are called “The Way of the Warrior” and “The Way of the Ninja”.
You can learn other fighting styles and Ninjutsu by finding special Handbooks. These books are hidden throughout the game – check secret areas, loot fallen enemies, and open chests to find them.
