
Riot Games recently released a significant update for 2XKO, primarily focused on fixing bugs and improving overall game stability. They’ve decided to hold off on making any changes to the game’s balance until a future update. Originally known as Project L, 2XKO was in development for quite some time before officially launching on PC on October 7, 2025. Since then, Season 1 has brought new content to the game, and 2XKO is now also available on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles.
Although the game 2XKO is proving popular with fans of the League of Legends universe, including those who enjoyed the Arcane series on Netflix, many players are expressing concerns about its pricing. Like other free-to-play games from Riot Games, 2XKO’s in-game items can be quite expensive. Players are discussing the cost of character skins and bundles, with some cosmetics costing $20 or more based on their rarity. A new “Arcade Megabundle” is available for $80. Despite these high prices, the game is continually being updated and improved, with the latest patch addressing several important issues.
Riot’s Julian Johnson explained that this initial patch focusing on bug fixes will be much smaller than the large Season 1 update (2XKO), which included extensive balance adjustments and other improvements. The team prioritized fixing the most pressing problems, and even deployed some smaller, quick fixes between this patch and the last major one. While no champions are being directly changed in this update, Johnson suggested the fixes might subtly alter the current gameplay meta.
In this update, Riot Games focused on four key gameplay improvements. They fixed issues that caused camera problems, prevented enemies from becoming invisible using Tag Launchers, and corrected a problem where players could avoid the intended combo limits with certain moves. These limits, called Limit Strikes, allow players to end combos early by performing multiple wall bounces, ground bounces, or tumbles, rewarding them with extra damage and meter gains. However, a bug was giving some characters, like Braum, an unfair advantage with these Limit Strikes.
This update includes general bug fixes and improvements to how Champion Mastery progresses. We’ve also added some quality-of-life changes for online matches. Now, players who waste time on the character select screen will receive the same penalty as those who leave a match early. To help players get into the game faster, the game will now remember your previous Champion and Fuse choices, letting you quickly select them again with a single button press.
We’re still working on a fix for the screen tearing problem some players are experiencing with 2XKO on consoles. Since the game launched in January 2026, players have noticed horizontal lines across the screen, especially on displays with faster refresh rates. This makes it look like the top and bottom parts of the image are slightly separated and misaligned. Riot Games knows about this issue – it’s listed in the patch notes as a known problem – but they haven’t announced when a solution will be available yet.

General
- Fixed an issue where joining a cabinet with your chat window active could cause you to lose control of your avatar.
- Added a notice that purchases made with Credits cannot be refunded.
- Fixed an issue where Champion Mastery progression did not update properly. (All progress was properly tracked, but it was not being properly displayed.)
- Fixed an issue preventing duos from entering a private lobby ID when using a controller.
- Fixed text-to-speech narrator mispronunciations across various screens and menus.
- Fixed an error when trying to reconnect to the online version of the game while playing on consoles.
- We’ve reduced the frequency of players receiving undeserved disconnect penalties in Casual and Ranked Lobbies.
Quality of Life Improvements
- Letting the champion select timer expire will now trigger the same penalty as force-disconnecting from a match.
- We hope this will deter dodging unfavorable matchups or tough opponents before the match begins.
- The client should now remember your last selections in champion selection. If you spam enter you should autopick your last loadout.
Known Issues
- Illaoi’s Guiding Hand Assist Tentacle fails to hit airborne opponents at low heights.
- Illaoi’s Tentacle-generating moves only spawn 1 Tentacle when hitting both opponent champions, but should be spawning 2.
- Screen tearing when playing on console versions of the game.
