Microsoft is Reportedly Looking to “Expand” Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is exploring new options to add more games and features to its subscription service. Currently, Game Pass gives subscribers access to a large library of games, and recent reports suggest this selection could grow significantly in the years to come.

Xbox Game Pass has changed a lot recently, growing in features but also increasing in price. Some changes, like the significant price increase for the Ultimate subscription a few months ago, haven’t been popular with everyone. However, new features, such as a potential free version supported by ads for cloud gaming, could attract many more players to the service.

Xbox Game Pass Could Be Getting Even Bigger

A recent report indicates Microsoft is planning to expand its Xbox Game Pass subscription service. According to The Verge, Microsoft is exploring ways to add more games and improve the overall experience for subscribers. While no significant changes are expected this year, these early explorations suggest a wider range of gaming options could be available to Xbox Game Pass members in the future.

More Games

According to sources, Microsoft is exploring ways to improve Xbox Game Pass. One idea is to combine the high-end ‘Premium’ tier with PC Game Pass, which focuses on PC gaming. This makes sense given Microsoft’s recent shift away from exclusive console games and their interest in handheld gaming. Another possibility is to offer Xbox Game Pass as part of a package with other gaming services, giving subscribers access to even more games. While specific services haven’t been named, this could significantly expand the Game Pass library.

As a big Xbox fan, I remember everyone was seriously upset back in October when Microsoft raised the price of Game Pass Ultimate from $20 to $30 a month. It actually broke their website with all the cancellation requests! A recent report pointed out that right after that price hike, Microsoft started talking a lot about adding more stuff to Game Pass. It’s hard to say if the two things are directly connected, but the timing is definitely interesting. On the bright side, the price increase did lead to a new partnership with Ubisoft+, which means we’re getting a ton of games, including all 16 of the Assassin’s Creed titles, added to Game Pass. So, while the price change stung, at least we’re getting more for our money now.

Xbox Game Pass is getting a lot of new games soon! Here’s a quick look at what’s coming: High on Life 2 will be available starting February 13, and Blazblue Entropy Effect X arrives on February 12 – both for Game Pass Ultimate members. Other highlights include Relooted (February 10), the relaxing life sim Starsand Island (February 12), the medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance (February 13), the action-adventure game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (February 17), and the puzzle-platformer Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf on March 5.
