LEGO Fan Buys Bowser Set from Amazon and Gets an Incredible Surprise

A LEGO collector got a fantastic surprise when their Mighty Bowser Super Mario set arrived from Amazon – they received two of the large sets instead of just one! Mistakes happen with online orders, but this lucky fan now has an extra copy of one of Nintendo’s biggest LEGO sets and needs to figure out what to do with it.

Nintendo and LEGO have been partners since 2020, starting with interactive Super Mario sets featuring popular characters like Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. They quickly expanded to include sets based on Luigi’s Mansion and Donkey Kong Country, and now LEGO offers Pokémon sets alongside those inspired by Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda. This collaboration continues to build a strong connection between Nintendo and LEGO.

I’m still blown away by LEGO’s Super Mario sets – that’s really where it all began for me! And someone just had amazing luck. A Reddit user, Particular_Orchid566, posted a picture of two Mighty Bowser sets they got from Amazon, even though they only ordered one! Seriously, everyone is either congratulating them on their incredible good fortune or wishing they had a Bowser set of their own. It’s the kind of mistake every LEGO and Nintendo fan dreams of!

LEGO released The Mighty Bowser set in July 2022, and it became available in stores around October of the same year. This large set, with 2,807 pieces, is designed for adults and older teens. It shows Bowser, the Koopa King, standing on a rocky base between two torches displaying his symbol. The model stands over 12 inches tall and measures about 16 by 11 inches, and it’s surprisingly dynamic – you can move its head, open its mouth, pose its body, and even launch a fireball! Originally priced at $269.99, the set is about to be discontinued, making it a desirable item for LEGO collectors.

So, I ended up getting a duplicate LEGO set – lucky me, right? Now I’m trying to decide what to do with it. I could sell it, get a refund, or… get really creative. I’m leaning towards building something completely custom. I’m thinking a massive, two-headed, four-armed Bowser would be epic! Another idea I had was to build Dry Bowser instead. He’s this really cool undead version of Bowser – basically a skeletal, spooky turtle king. He first showed up in New Super Mario Bros. and has been in a few other games like Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros. 2. It’d be a fun challenge to build him!

Reselling the LEGO Bowser set could be a good way to make money. Although the buyer hasn’t said what they paid, similar sets are currently listed online for between $270 and $355 – a significant profit. If they wanted to use the money to buy other LEGO sets, there are plenty of choices, including a $250 art set coming out on March 1st that’s a replica of Claude Monet’s Water Lilies painting.
