One Of 2026’s Best Shonen Anime Series Is Officially Ruined Forever

2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for anime fans! The Winter 2026 season is here, bringing back highly anticipated series like Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, along with several other popular titles. While there’s a lot to look forward to, the anime Fire Force is coming to a close. The final part of Fire Force Season 3 premiered in January, and viewers are eager to see how this captivating story ends.

Unfortunately, the ending of Fire Force appears to have been negatively impacted. The second part of Season 3 had 88 chapters of source material to cover, but only 13 episodes were produced, which many feared would lead to a rushed conclusion, and it seems those concerns were justified.

Fire Force’s Final Part Is Officially Ruined

88 Chapters Set To Be Adapted Into 13 Episodes

I was so hyped for Fire Force when it first came out in January 2026 – it felt like the anime everyone was waiting for! It started back in 2019 and has been amazing ever since, but sadly, it’s coming to an end. Honestly, it’s a bit of a bummer, and a lot of us fans feel like David Production is trying to wrap things up too quickly. We found out a while ago that the final stretch will only be 13 episodes, which is way too short to properly cover everything that’s still left in the manga. It’s a real shame!

The Fire Force anime still needs to cover 88 chapters of the manga. If each of the 13 upcoming episodes adapts around 7 chapters, that would be a very rushed pace. Most anime episodes adapt between 2 and 4 chapters, allowing for a more comfortable and detailed storytelling experience.

The anime Fire Force might start cutting content from its story, potentially sacrificing details from about seven chapters per episode. This is a common problem with anime adaptations, and often leads to a poor result. The Promised Neverland is a prime example – it was once incredibly popular, but a heavily cut adaptation led to it being largely forgotten. Fire Force risks facing the same problem.

Series Stood As One Of The Best Shonen Of The Modern Era

I’ve been watching Fire Force, and it’s easy to see why it’s become so popular recently. The story really draws you in, even if the premise doesn’t immediately grab you. What’s particularly stood out to me, and what a lot of fans agree on, is that it actually sticks the landing with its ending – something many action-packed series struggle with. That’s why I’m so disappointed with this final part of Season 3. We were all eagerly anticipating seeing that great ending animated, but the rushed pacing and cut content have really taken away from it.

Fire Force Is Ending Soon

Broadcast Began on January 9, 2026

The second part of Fire Force Season 3 is currently being released, and because this season is short, viewers realize the anime is nearing its conclusion. While pacing issues haven’t been a major problem so far, the first few episodes show that some content has been trimmed or hurried. Despite this, David Production has done a pretty good job adapting the material so far, but it’s uncertain how they’ll handle everything with so few episodes remaining. It’s a real challenge to fit so much story into such a limited timeframe.

Readers are particularly worried about how the story will end, because the final chapters are incredibly exciting and a disappointing conclusion would be devastating.
