Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Star Path Controversy Explained

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Star Path Controversy Explained

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say I was quite looking forward to the Halloween-themed Star Path in Disney Dreamlight Valley this year. The announcement of a rock-themed Star Path left me scratching my head, much like Mickey does when he’s trying to solve a complex puzzle.

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, Star Paths have been a long-standing feature, yet the recent addition has left players feeling underwhelmed. Given that Halloween is fast approaching, fans anticipated the newest Star Path in Disney Dreamlight Valley to carry a touch of eeriness or suspense, but it appears that it does not live up to their expectations.

As a devoted fan, I must confess my initial dismay when I learned about the rock-themed Star Path. But fear not, fellow enthusiasts! The creators of Disney Dreamlight Valley have reassured us that spooktacular Halloween events are in store for us. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and eagerly await the chills and thrills!

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Night Show Isn’t Very Spooktacular

In essence, Star Paths function similarly to the battle pass in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This mission system offers free perks when players accomplish specific side or main missions. Moreover, there’s an option for a premium version of the Star Path, which can be obtained by spending Moonstones.

Rewards and theming of the Star Paths also change season by season, with the previous Star Path being themed to the game’s Dapper Delights update. Therefore, fans expected this next Star Path to at least be themed to the game’s most recent update if it was not festive. Instead of featuring The Lion King theme associated with Dreamlight Valley’s new Jungle Getaway update, players received a Star Path titled “The Night Show.”

In simpler terms, some players of Disney Dreamlight Valley might find a rock ‘n’ roll-themed path, featuring skulls and fire, a bit scary, as it diverges from their expectations set by past Star Paths or updates. However, this doesn’t mean that a rock ‘n’ roll theme is inherently bad, especially since there are rumors of collaboration with popular fashion brand Loungefly. The reaction from fans to this new Star Path can be understood given the timing.

For the past two Halloweens, Disney Dreamlight Valley has adopted a spooky theme in its Star Paths. Last year, the Villains’ Star Path was the second one introduced in the game, offering prizes such as Black Cat Ears and the Well of Souls. This year, Gameloft and Disney Dreamlight Valley are once again embracing the Halloween spirit with the Haunted Holiday Star Path, which features rewards like a Halloween Town Archway and a Pumpkin King Costume.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Still Has Halloween 2024 Plans

Fans might have been less disappointed by the absence of a Halloween-themed Star Path if Gameloft and Disney Dreamlight Valley had given more hints about upcoming Halloween events. So far, only Trick-or-Treating has been announced as one of the Halloween events coming to Dreamlight Valley soon. Fans are uncertain whether there will be additional events during this season or if Trick-or-Treating is all that Disney Dreamlight Valley has planned for Halloween.

Besides trick-or-treating, Halloween activities in Disney Dreamlight Valley from previous years included a special makeover for the regular three-course meal task known as Dreamlight Duty during this season. This transformation has also taken place on other holidays such as Christmas and Easter, so it’s plausible that we might see it again this year, even though there hasn’t been an official announcement from Gameloft or the team behind Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Last year, a special event offered players an unique Pumpkin Stack furniture piece after gathering one hundred pumpkins. It’s reasonable to expect a similar Halloween or autumn-themed event, like leaf collection, to appear this year following the Star Path controversy. Even though Star Path might not be scary, Disney Dreamlight Valley can still provide some thrills for players to experience. Until October 23, when Trick-or-Treating is back, fans can only enjoy the newly released Jungle Getaway update on October 9.
