How To Spot The Real Heismay In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned gamer, I’ve battled my fair share of bosses, but none quite like Heismay from Metaphor: ReFantazio. This elusive foe is a master of deception, with his ability to clone himself and scatter them across the battlefield. It took me a good while to figure out how to spot the real Heismay amidst his doppelgangers, but once I did, victory was within reach. The key is to focus on single-target attacks and look for the one casting a shadow – that’s your man!

In the realm of ReFantazio, many leaders possess distinctive traits that elevate battles beyond mere comparisons of stats and attacks. Often, the outcome of a boss fight hinges upon the strategy employed by the player, as well as the Archetypes their party is currently utilizing.

In this battle against Heismay, you’ll encounter an intriguing twist: he can duplicate himself at the outset! Each clone is capable of launching attacks and adding more Action Points (or Press Turn icons) to his army, but beware, striking the wrong one will result in a missed opportunity. Here’s some guidance on identifying the real Heismay and strategies for defeating him.

How To Spot The Real Heismay In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a gamer, I’ve figured out that focusing on the shadowy figure among Heismays can give me an edge. The one casting a shadow is the real deal, the original Heismay. If I manage to attack him, his clones vanish for the rest of the turn until he respawns. However, keep in mind that his location changes every time he uses his ability, but the one with the shadow will always be the right Heismay.

Do not use attack-all abilities as it will count as a miss against the clones and the real Heismay.

To eliminate the clones and focus on the genuine Heismay, initiate the fight using a single-target attack with the leader of your team. Once the clones are gone, feel free to employ area-of-effect abilities such as potent Synthesis attacks without any penalties.

How To Beat Heismay In Metaphor: ReFantazio

  • Bring a healer with Patra and Rakunda.
  • Have the other two party members use any strong Archetype with single-target attacks.

Heismay has no affinities at all, meaning he has no weaknesses or resistances. While you can’t take advantage of a weakness, you do have the freedom to use whatever skills are your best to take him down. Physical attacks tend to be the best for this fight as fishing for critical hits will occasionally give you an extra Press Turn icon. For the most part, Heismay is a weak boss once you get past his clones, which always need to be taken out right away by hitting the real Heismay otherwise he’ll get three more Press Turn icons.

The first time you encounter Heismay in battle, he’s likely to primarily use a standard attack with his extra turn. As such, if you ensure to heal when necessary, he won’t pose significant danger. Once defeated and he retreats, remember to restore your health before investigating his tent, as you’ll need to face him again following the next scene.

In your upcoming battle against Heismay, he’ll persist with his familiar tactic of producing clones, but will introduce two novel strategies as well. One attack will inflict the Forget status, while another will decrement your party’s agility by two levels. If your agility drops, consider using Dekunda to counteract this. Although Forget might appear detrimental, it can either be cured or that team member can concentrate on basic attacks to dispel the clones, thus reserving more Press Turn icons for skills with greater damage potential.
