Metaphor: ReFantazio – The King Of The Imps Bounty Guide

Metaphor: ReFantazio - The King Of The Imps Bounty Guide

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the bounties in Metaphor: ReFantazio have become one of my favorite aspects of this game. The thrill of accepting a challenge, exploring new dungeons, and the satisfaction of emerging victorious against tough mini-bosses like the Goborn King is unparalleled.

In simpler terms, collecting bounties is an effortless method to amass Reeve and boost your reputation within the game world of ReFantazio. These bounties don’t just involve challenging mini-boss battles that can generously bestow the player with large amounts of experience points (XP) and MAG, but also offer smaller dungeons to delve into for further exploration.

In the world of Martira, the initial quest available for players is centered around Goborn, the Imp King. This mission can be undertaken at the Imp’s Den, a site situated just a day’s journey from Martira. However, before players can engage with Goborn, they must first find a way to manifest him as their opponent.

How To Prepare For The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Do not bring a Healer or Mage, as Staffs will make any Goborn infuriated.

  • Protagonist – Gunner
  • Hulkenburg – Knight
  • Strohl – Warrior/Swordmaster

The Goborn King lacks vulnerabilities except for a greater likelihood of dozing off. Having the Swordmaster, the second type in the Warrior lineage, will significantly simplify this battle due to its innate ‘all attack’ skill. The Gunner’s initial skill may induce sleep in enemies, but stocking up on sleep-inducing items from Martira’s store serves as a reliable backup. Skill Inheritance can also be beneficial for transferring abilities from the Healer to a party member, especially Media.

How To Spawn The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Upon reaching the Imp’s Den, several Hexer Goborn Estos will be indicated on the map. To summon the boss, you should eliminate all but two of these entities. This action triggers the boss’s appearance once the final one is defeated. Since this happens right away, make sure to recharge your health and mana for optimal readiness before engaging in combat with what appears to be the penultimate Hexer. Notably, these Hexers, like the boss, have no particular weaknesses except that they tend to fall asleep more frequently.

How To Beat The Goborn King In Metaphor: ReFantazio

The Goborn King has no weaknesses but is more susceptible to sleep.

In the coming battle, King Goborn and four other Goborns will join forces against your party. Initially, focus on eliminating the additional Goborns to minimize the number of Press Turn icons the enemies can use. If you have single-target attacks at your disposal, employ Sleep abilities such as those from Gunner characters or relevant items to put the boss to sleep alongside one or two others. Maintain the boss’s sleep state whenever possible, as it will inflict the most damage and continue to boost the attack power of all enemies while also recasting its buff when it wears off. The Knight’s Proclamation from Hulkenberg is crucial for redirecting attacks towards a single party member, thereby reducing the amount of damage you receive and the need for healing.

In this battle, you’re likely to lose if you don’t wait until later in the game to try again, as resting is crucial, because you won’t have a consistent way to get more action points. Once you’ve defeated all other Goborns, The King Goborn will maintain its maximum hit rate and evasion until it is defeated. Removing its buffs can be done, but you’ll need to do it every turn as the King Goborn will repeatedly use its ability to refresh its stats, which will deplete your MP rapidly.

Your optimal strategy here is to boost the agility of your party through abilities or equipment, or simply keep attacking and pushing forward even if you miss. Notably, equipment boasts a guaranteed hit effect, which ensures it will consistently deal damage to the boss as it nears its final health, eliminating the need for constant concern about missed attacks.
