The transformations in Dragon Ball Super are much more powerful than anything seen before. With the addition of God-like forms and unique personal evolutions, characters – both heroes and villains – have reached incredible new levels of strength. This is especially impressive considering how strong everyone had already become by the end of Dragon Ball Z, particularly during the Majin Buu Saga.

In Dragon Ball Super, some transformations aren’t about being the most powerful, but about boosting a fighter’s energy to unbelievable levels. Characters like the Saiyans, Heeters, and Frieza are now achieving power feats that would easily surpass even Vegito’s Fusion form from Dragon Ball Z.
7. Super Saiyan Rage Future Trunks Made Him Strong Enough to Defeat Fused Zamasu

Super Saiyan Rage is a remarkably powerful transformation in Dragon Ball. During the fight against Goku Black, Future Trunks briefly trained with Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta. This allowed him to absorb some of Vegeta’s divine energy, which he then used during his final battle with Fused Zamasu. By achieving Super Saiyan Rage, Trunks was finally able to fight Zamasu as an equal, despite the fact that Zamasu had been overwhelming both Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta only moments before.
Future Trunks’ Super Saiyan Rage transformation allows him to gather energy from the spirits of those who survived in his timeline, similar to Goku’s Spirit Bomb. He uses this power, channeled through his Sword of Hope, to cut Fused Zamasu in half. However, because Zamasu is immortal, Trunks doesn’t truly defeat him, even though it appears that way. The Dragon Ball Super manga intentionally leaves out Super Saiyan Rage to maintain a consistent power level for Future Trunks throughout the story.
6. Super Saiyan Blue Evolved Vegeta Outclasses Goku’s Version of SSB

During the Tournament of Power, Vegeta achieved a new, more powerful form called Super Saiyan Blue Evolved while battling Toppo. This transformation is unique to Vegeta, and even the god Beerus recognized the significant increase in Vegeta’s power and aura when he first accessed it. Super Saiyan Blue Evolved allowed Vegeta to defeat Toppo and still conserve enough energy to face Jiren.
I have to say, it was really something to see Vegeta defeat Toppo. Toppo wasn’t just a strong opponent; he’d actually become a God of Destruction by that point! That made Vegeta, in his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved form, the only normal character in the whole series to ever pull that off. Thinking about power levels, SSBE Vegeta and Goku with his initial Ultra Instinct form seemed to be pretty evenly matched. Since then, Vegeta has really leaned into SSBE, using it even when fighting Gohan in his Beast form during the Saiyan battle royale in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 103, instead of trying his newer Ultra Ego form.
5. Ultra Ego Vegeta Grows Stronger the More He Fights
While Super Saiyan Blue Evolution is more consistent, Ultra Ego offers incredible, untamed power. Vegeta hasn’t won a fight using Ultra Ego yet, but that’s simply because he’s still learning to control its weaknesses. Unlike Ultra Instinct, which focuses on dodging, Ultra Ego actually grows stronger as the fight goes on and the user takes more damage. This makes it ideal for Vegeta, who frequently finds himself overwhelmed by his opponents.
Based on what we’ve seen, Ultra Ego seems to give Vegeta a power boost beyond even Ultra Instinct. He went from being easily defeated by Granolah to being able to compete, thanks to Ultra Ego. However, Granolah’s wish to be the strongest, combined with Vegeta’s natural strength, pushed Vegeta to unlock even more of Ultra Ego’s potential. Once Vegeta fully controls Ultra Ego, he’s going to be an incredibly powerful fighter.
4. True Ultra Instinct Goku Can Stack Super Saiyan on Top of UI
During the Tournament of Power, Goku first accessed Ultra Instinct while battling Jiren, and he’s steadily become more skilled with it in each story since. In the Moro arc, Merus helped Goku learn to quiet his mind, allowing him to activate and control the perfected version of Ultra Instinct at will. He even gained incredible control over his energy, enabling him to create powerful energy projections. Goku continued to push the boundaries of Ultra Instinct in the Granolah arc.
During his battles with Granolah and Gas, Goku unlocked a more advanced form of Ultra Instinct called True Ultra Instinct. It looks similar to the initial sign of Ultra Instinct, but he can activate it at any time. A unique feature of True Ultra Instinct is that Goku can combine it with Super Saiyan transformations to further increase his power, benefiting from both the transformations’ divine energy and Ultra Instinct’s natural boosts. However, as of the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Goku has returned to primarily using Mastered Ultra Instinct.
3. Awakened Gas Was Briefly the Strongest Character in Universe 7
The Heeters are incredibly strong, ranking among the most powerful in Universe 7, with only Frieza’s empire comparable to theirs. Unlike many other races, the Heeters struggle to control their full potential when their natural power is unleashed, often becoming uncontrollably enraged. To prevent this, they use special devices to limit their strength. However, after Elec makes a wish for Gas to become the absolute strongest, Gas gains control of his full power when he transforms.
Awakened Gas possesses the immense strength of his berserk form, but with almost perfect control over his abilities. He’s incredibly powerful – far surpassing even Ultra Instinct Goku, Ultra Ego Vegeta, and Granolah. When he first appeared, Awakened Gas was the strongest being in Universe 7, but that quickly changed when Black Frieza arrived and defeated him. Sadly, the wish Elec made to enhance Gas also aged him rapidly. To keep up with Black Frieza, Gas aged so much that he ultimately turned to dust.
2. Full Power Super Saiyan Broly Breaks All Power-Scaling Logic
Broly is considered the most naturally gifted Saiyan warrior in the history of Dragon Ball. He was born with an incredibly high Power Level of 10,000 and has become even more powerful over time. In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, he’s shown to be strong enough to battle Super Saiyan God Goku and Vegeta even without much training – he mainly survived by living on the harsh planet Vampa. Once he transforms into a Super Saiyan, his power quickly surpasses even the strongest God Ki forms, like Super Saiyan Blue.
Broly’s power truly explodes when he reaches his Legendary Super Saiyan form. In this state, he’s incredibly strong – powerful enough to battle Super Saiyan Gogeta as an equal. That’s remarkable, considering Gogeta is the strongest fusion warrior ever created. Ultimately, Broly is defeated only because Gogeta transforms into Super Saiyan Blue and overpowers him. However, Broly continuously gets stronger throughout a fight, meaning he might eventually be able to match Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta if given enough time.
1. Black Frieza is The Most OP Transformation in Dragon Ball History
Black Frieza’s transformation is arguably the most powerful in all of Dragon Ball. After training for ten years in a different universe’s Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Frieza goes from being weaker than Jiren to surpassing even Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta combined during the Granolah Saga.
Black Frieza is incredibly powerful. He instantly defeats Gas, who had been a major challenge for Goku, Vegeta, and Granolah, and then effortlessly beats both Goku (in his Ultra Instinct form) and Vegeta (in his Ultra Ego form) with attacks they can’t even react to. According to the manga adaptation of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Black Frieza is currently the strongest being in the multiverse, and no other Z-Fighter is anywhere near his level of power.
