The 10 Best Blue Power Rangers, Ranked

Power Rangers is a hugely popular superhero show. While the Red Ranger is often the main focus, the Blue Ranger is consistently a fan favorite across different seasons. Blue Rangers are commonly portrayed as intelligent and skilled with technology, though there have been exceptions. Several Blue Rangers have become particularly memorable, each standing out from the rest in unique and impressive ways.

Koda, the Blue Dino Charger Ranger, is a fan favorite, but he stands out from most Blue Rangers. Many popular Blue Rangers gained recognition by reminding fans of the original character, while Koda achieved popularity by being different. Of course, some Blue Power Rangers are more well-regarded than others.

10. Noah Carver Is an Amalgamation Of Every Popular Blue Ranger Trope

Power Rangers: Megaforce

I really like Noah Carver as the Blue Ranger – he’s seriously strong! But honestly, it feels like his personality is just a mix of traits from Rangers we’ve seen before. His shark design is awesome, but the show’s main idea – letting us become past Rangers – kind of overshadows it. A lot of times when Noah has a great moment, fans are wishing he was actually that past Ranger instead, and it’s a shame because he’s a cool character on his own.

Carver is as smart as Billy Cranston, but doesn’t have the same charming personality. He does, however, have access to some really awesome abilities within the Megaforce series. While Megaforce wasn’t as popular as other Super Sentai adaptations, many fans love the Gosei Shark Zord, considering it one of the best in the entire franchise. It’s a shame Noah’s incredible powers weren’t given to a more compelling character.

9. Kevin Is an Utterly Rigid Rule Follower, Who Learns to Let Loose

Power Rangers: Samurai

Kevin is the second-in-command of the Samurai Rangers and is known for always following the rules. He put his Olympic aspirations aside to become a Power Ranger and consistently performs his duties well. Like the other Rangers, Kevin feels driven to succeed because of high expectations from his parents. Fortunately, teammates like Mike help him relax and have fun sometimes.

Like many Blue Rangers before him, Kevin’s powers and giant robots, called Zords, are based on water. His primary Zord is the Dragon Folding Zord, and he later gains the Swordfish Zord. Combining these powerful machines with his strong fighting abilities makes him one of the best Blue Rangers from the original Power Rangers series. While he doesn’t always understand humor at first, Kevin is perfectly suited to become the Blue Samurai Ranger.

8. Ethan James Is Modeled After the Original Mighty Morphin Blue Ranger

Power Rangers: Dino Thunder

Power Rangers: Dino Thunder intentionally pays homage to the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in several ways. The character Ethan is very much like Billy Cranston, though with some unique qualities. While both share a similar color scheme and dinosaur theme, Kevin Duhaney made a point of giving Ethan James a distinct personality. Like Billy before him, Ethan also becomes an important character in later versions of the Power Rangers series.

James is known for inventing the advanced technology and equipment used by the future S.P.D. Rangers, a contribution often compared to Billy’s genius-level intellect. Beyond his intelligence, James is a skilled fighter, effectively utilizing his Triceratops-based powers. He became a fan favorite Ranger in the early 2000s, and despite comparisons to the original Blue Ranger, he’s actually a remarkably original character.

7. Theo Martin Is Sometimes Arrogant, But Also Has the Skills to Back it Up

Power Rangers: Jungle Fury

Theo starts out in Power Rangers as a skilled martial artist who’s a bit of a show-off and always follows the rules. He draws strength from the spirit of a jaguar, which boosts his attacks and helps him transform into a Ranger. Over time, he learns to accept Casey as the leader, shedding his arrogance and revealing his true, likable personality. A recurring storyline in Jungle Fury also focuses on Theo’s feelings for his teammate, Lilly Chillman.

Despite taking several episodes to fully unfold, this storyline became one of the most beloved romances in the 2000s Power Rangers series. While Theo isn’t the team leader, he’s frequently the one who comes up with the plans. He’s a brilliant strategist, though he sometimes struggles to adapt when things don’t go as expected. Still, he’s considered one of the strongest Blue Rangers from the early 2000s seasons.

6. Koda Is One of the Most Popular Modern Rangers in the Franchise

Power Rangers: Dino Charge

Koda is a particularly unique Power Ranger. He’s rare in that he’s played a role in both the original Japanese series, Super Sentai, and the American Power Rangers. Not only was he a Super Sentai actor previously, but he also became a fan favorite as the Blue Ranger in recent seasons. Even though newer installments of the franchise haven’t always been popular with viewers, Koda’s popularity continues to grow.

Koda is a caveman from the past who was frozen in ice for hundreds of years and recently thawed into the present day. He lacks any understanding of modern life, but relies on incredibly strong instincts. This unique take on the Blue Ranger character has proven popular with audiences. He’s a departure from what fans typically expect, and that’s a big reason why people like him.

5. Rocky DeSantos Is the Second-In-Command to the Amazing Tommy Oliver

Power Rangers: Zeo

Rocky DeSantos began his Power Rangers journey as the Red Ranger, but consistently played a supporting role to Tommy Oliver. When the team upgraded to become the Zeo Rangers using Zeo Crystals, Rocky transitioned to the Blue Ranger. This change gave him a color that better reflected his position within the team and also proved popular with fans.

Rocky, initially known as the Red Ranger, was often measured against the original Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott. However, when he became the Blue Zeo Ranger, he had the chance to establish his own identity and accomplish unique things. As the Blue Zeo Ranger, he controlled both the Sphinx Zord and the Super Zeo Zord III. While these Zords weren’t fan favorites when they first appeared, they would likely be very popular with audiences today.

4. Flynn McAllistair Became Popular Due to His Incredible Personality

Power Rangers: RPM

Flynn McAllistair, the Blue Ranger, became especially well-known after briefly becoming an internet meme. Beyond that, people enjoy him because he’s friendly and deeply caring. He’s also one of the most powerful Rangers, with the unique ability to freeze time.

The show deliberately scaled back how often Flynn used his ability because it was too strong, but even with limited use, it establishes him as one of the most powerful Power Rangers ever. Flynn always wanted to be a hero, and becoming a Power Ranger lets him fulfill that dream. Though his father is initially hesitant about the danger, he soon supports Flynn when he sees the positive impact he’s making.

3. Sky Tate Is One of the Most Dedicated Rangers in History

Power Rangers: S.P.D.

Okay, so in “Power Rangers S.P.D.”, we meet Sky Tate, a guy who’s always dreamed of following in his dad’s footsteps and becoming the Red Ranger. It doesn’t quite work out that way at first – he ends up as the Blue Ranger instead. He’s a little unsure about it at the beginning, but he respects his commander, Anubis Cruger, and really steps up. Honestly, Sky is one of the most dedicated Rangers I’ve seen in a long time, and it’s awesome to watch him grow. It’s super satisfying when he finally gets to fulfill his dream and become the Red Ranger after they take down Emperor Grumm!

Tate’s journey as a Blue Ranger is particularly inspiring, and he ultimately demonstrates he deserves to achieve his goals. He even becomes the S.P.D. Deka Ranger, eventually leading the S.P.D. Earth Base after Anubis Crueger. While Tate sometimes struggles with letting his emotions affect his work, he’s always able to refocus and deliver when it counts. Thanks to guidance from Crueger and support from his teammates, he surpasses all expectations and reaches new heights.

2. T.J. Johnson Has Done Incredible Things as Both a Leader and a Follower

Power Rangers: In Space

Image via Hasbro

T.J. Johnson is a remarkably adaptable person and team player. He started as the Red Turbo Ranger, but readily stepped aside to let Andros lead when the Power Rangers ventured into space, showing his willingness to prioritize the team’s success. What’s even more unique is that he’s one of the few Rangers who has served as both the Red and Blue Ranger.

Jason David Johnson represents a connection to a beloved era of Power Rangers. His departure feels significant, marking a clear transition. As a veteran Ranger, he takes a supporting role to Andros, who effectively revives the series. Had Johnson initiated the final plot point, it would have felt like a nostalgic echo rather than a fresh start.

1. Billy Cranston Is The Greatest Blue Ranger Of All Time

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Billy Cranston is known as one of the most intelligent Power Rangers, and he’s particularly famous as the original Blue Ranger. He essentially established the standard for all future Blue Rangers. Despite being a bit of a tech enthusiast, Billy is also incredibly courageous. Even after he stopped actively fighting as the Blue Ranger, he continued to support the team by inventing new equipment and morphing technology to help them on missions.

Cranston was a key figure in the Power Rangers’ success, responsible for many of their biggest breakthroughs. He was the first to demonstrate that humans could understand and manipulate the Morphin Grid, paving the way for the Rangers to become increasingly powerful. Had he had access to today’s technology, he likely could have defeated Rita Repulsa on his own with one of his inventions.
