Most enemy bases in Nioh 3 are simple to get into, but some require extra work. A good example is the base near the Mikatagahara Junction Shrine at Hamamatsu Hill, which has locked gates and no obvious way around them. To enter, players need to take a significant detour north and assist an NPC with a matter concerning her family’s land.
How to Open the Enemy Base in Mikatagahara Junction in Nioh 3
- Speak with Ii Naotora at Hamamatsu Castle Keep
- Complete the Fated Land quest in Ryotan Temple to the north (Iinoya)
- Speak with Naotora again to get the Mountain Temple Key
You’ll need the Mountain Temple Key to access this area. You can earn this key by completing the Fated Land quest in Nioh 3. If you haven’t already, start the quest by talking to Ii Naotora at Hamamatsu Castle Keep.
The Fated Land quest sends you to a temple north of town, once belonging to the Ii clan, to defeat all the yokai within. The quest takes place on a relatively simple, though occasionally confusing, map. You’ll face many enemies, but Naotora will assist you throughout the entire quest, and you can also team up with friends if you’d like.
After completing the Fated Land quest, return to Naotora at Hamamatsu Castle. She’ll have another request: to eliminate the enemy forces at Hamamatsu Hill. She’ll provide you with the Mountain Temple Key before you head out, which will allow you to access the base.
Clearing the Hamamatsu Hill Base in Nioh 3
Near Mikatagahara Junction, you’ll find 5 yokai, mostly skeletons hiding and waiting to ambush you. If they’re hard to spot, look for items you can pick up around the area – they’ll help you locate the skeletons. The last enemy you’ll face is a Ninja Yoki, which appears above the Spider Lily flowers in the center of the temple.
Once you’ve defeated all the yokai, head to the pagoda at the highest point of the temple. There, you’ll face a samurai ghost. He follows a simple pattern, so as long as you don’t rush things and attack too much, you should win without much trouble.
In Nioh 3, weapons have special skills that can quickly deplete an enemy’s stamina (Ki), let you move behind them, or break through their defenses. When facing human opponents who block frequently, utilize these skills, or use Ninjutsu and elemental attacks which can bypass blocking.
