Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is launching soon, and players are hoping it will revitalize interest in the game. While Battlefield 6 had a record-breaking launch, it’s experienced challenges since then. Issues with aiming, a lack of large maps, questionable cosmetic items, concerns about security, and the continued absence of naval battles have left many players disappointed.
Look, I really want to see Battlefield 6 turn things around. It hasn’t been out long, but Season 2 needs to be amazing if they want to keep me and other players hooked. Honestly, I’m at a point where I’m either hoping they fix things, or I’m ready to move on. But while I’m deciding, I’ve been checking out Delta Force, and it’s surprisingly good! It came out in 2024 and it’s a really solid FPS that’s been keeping me busy while I wait to see what happens with Battlefield.
Delta Force Has Everything That the Battlefield Franchise is Known For, and Some Features Are Actually Handled Even Better
- Large-scale maps
- 32 vs 32 matches
- Vehicles
- Operator class system
- Character abilities
- Cinematic atmosphere
- Strong weapon variety
As a big Battlefield fan, I’m always looking for that large-scale FPS experience. Delta Force really delivers on that front, and the best part is it’s totally free! It’s got a similar modern military feel to games like Battlefield 6. Now, if you’re like me and really enjoy the WWI and WWII settings of some Battlefield titles, Delta Force might not be exactly what you’re looking for. But, if you want huge battles with lots of different ways to play, this could be perfect for you!
Since its release, players have been discussing the size of the maps in Battlefield 6. Recent leaks about Season 2 maps suggest the potential for more diverse environments, but some on Reddit and other social media worry they won’t offer much that’s different. Battlefield 6 still needs to improve the variety of its maps, particularly by adding more options for naval combat. Luckily, Delta Force seems to be addressing that need as well.
The release of Season 2 for Battlefield 2042 was initially planned for January, but it’s now scheduled to launch on February 17th. Information that has been leaked suggests the season will include two new maps, a small helicopter, a motorcycle, and three new weapons. However, it’s worth noting that this information hasn’t been officially confirmed by the developers.
Battlefield 6 Players Hungry For Naval Combat Will Want to Jump Over to Delta Force
Many Battlefield players still consider the naval battles in Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 to be among the best in the series. Because of this, there’s been a lot of demand for similar maps in the next Battlefield game. While it seems likely BF Studios will eventually add them, it’s unclear when players can expect to see naval combat return to multiplayer. The single-player campaign features some water-based sections, but that doesn’t satisfy those hoping for full-scale water battles with other players, making the wait even more frustrating.
You can jump right into Delta Force without any waiting. The game offers a variety of experiences across land, sea, and air, making it appealing to fans of Battlefield and other shooters. While Battlefield 6 might feel a bit smoother to control, Delta Force really shines with its wide range of maps. Now is a great time to try it out, as the free-to-play game just launched its newest Season, Morphosis, which includes tons of new content.

Delta Force Could Be the Answer That Frustrated Battlefield 6 Players Have Been Looking For
Though it’s not officially a Battlefield game, Delta Force captures a similar feel and addresses many of the problems players have had with the latest Battlefield installment. It actually includes and executes features that Battlefield 6 is missing.
As the FPS and Extraction Shooter Genres Compete, Delta Force Embraces Both Sides
Several major shooters—including Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and ARC Raiders—were released around the same time, revealing a change in what players want. While Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 sold well, ARC Raiders became a standout hit in 2025, popularizing the ‘extraction shooter’ genre. In fact, ARC Raiders has earned a better reception than the other two games. It showed players the exciting potential of extraction shooters, suggesting they could become even more popular than traditional first-person shooters. Battlefield 6 has seen its player base decline, potentially due to players getting tired of the typical FPS experience. Delta Force is trying to stand out by offering both large-scale battles similar to Battlefield and an extraction mode called Hazard Operations.
Whether you prefer the large-scale action of games like Battlefield or enjoy the tension of extraction-based gameplay, Delta Force offers a bit of both. It will be interesting to see how players react to the Season 2 update for Battlefield 6. Before the update, the game showed potential to recapture the spirit of earlier titles. While Battlefield 6 has some strengths, it still needs work to truly feel like a classic Battlefield experience. Hopefully, Season 2 will move it in the right direction, but we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Delta Force could be a welcome discovery for Battlefield 6 players, and it’s completely free to play.
