Game Freak Leaks Uncover ‘Adult’ Pokémon Movie and New Anime in Production

As a long-time Pokémon enthusiast who grew up with Ash and Pikachu, I can’t contain my excitement about these recent leaks! The idea of a reboot movie like Codename Bauer tackling adult themes and potentially addressing issues like bullying and suicide resonates deeply. It’s a testament to how much the franchise has grown and evolved over the years.

Over the past few hours, Pokémon enthusiasts globally have been taken aback by a significant data leak from Game Freak, exposing thousands of files spanning games from the past, present, and future. One of the most striking discoveries stemming from this breach is the disclosure of ‘Pokémon Movie 24′, a reboot featuring mature themes that may have been in danger of being shelved during production.

Bring Them Back

According to a recent social media post disclosing the contents of the files, Project Codename Bauer has been underway since 2021 and was initially planned for release in 2023. However, it’s unclear what may have caused any delays or changes to its release schedule.

The movie was said to explore mature topics such as bullying and suicide, and its goal was to serve as a revival aimed at appealing once again to adults who may have lost interest, thereby attracting an older audience.

Here’s what the post claimed on Twitter:

The story unfolds in contemporary Kanto, featuring the central mythical creature, Mew. Our new leads are Light and Akari, who could be male or female. This intriguing tale is brought to life under the guidance of director Kobun Shizuno, renowned for his work on Detective Conan.

Additionally, there’s news circulating about two upcoming ventures for Pokémon fans: a fresh Pokémon anime titled “Codename Reload” and a sequel film to Detective Pikachu. Insights from recent Game Freak leaks have provided detailed information on both projects, including complete plot synopses.

Code Name “Reload,” it seems, is said to have been developed using the dual-engine system, famously utilized in “A Whisker Away.” This project comprises a total of twelve episodes set for release throughout the year. These episodes will be available on streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Similar to Codename Bauer, whose release date has apparently passed, the status of the upcoming project remains uncertain since it was expected to be out by now.

Game Freak acknowledged the recent leaks, emphasizing that the security incident took place back in August. They have since taken steps to minimize the impact of the data breach.
