REDACTED: How to Beat the Berserker

REDACTED: How to Beat the Berserker

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that [REDACTED] has truly tested my mettle. The Berserker boss fight, in particular, has left me scratching my head more times than I’d care to remember. The stunning visuals and unique graphics are a feast for the eyes, but they can’t hide the fact that this game is as challenging as it is beautiful.

Among the challenging roguelike games released recently, this one stands out due to its emphasis on maneuverability and targeted strikes during combat, which sets it apart from many others within the genre. Yet, it compensates for the increased difficulty with breathtakingly beautiful visuals and distinctive graphics.

Despite the dazzling special effects attempting to disguise it, they fail to mask the true challenge posed by the levels. The bosses lurking at the end of each biome are noticeably tougher than typical or even elite enemies, and the first adversary players encounter, the Berserker, is just as formidable as the ones that come later.

General Strategy for the Berserker

REDACTED: How to Beat the Berserker

In the game [REDACTED], player health levels are relatively low, making them quite fragile and vulnerable to attack. As a result, they can’t withstand many hits before being defeated by the continuous onslaught of enemies. Given this, the strategy for any boss battle remains consistent.

  1. Learn the boss’ moveset and attack timings.
  2. Avoid as many attacks as you can, and play cautiously.
  3. Use your abilities where possible and use a combination of status effects to inflict as much damage as you can.
  4. Get rid of the mobs as soon as they spawn. They can and will swarm you with attacks if left alone.

Berserker’s Moveset

The Berserker character exhibits two stages, although they aren’t clearly defined. Once your Health Points (HP) reach a specific threshold, it transitions into a berserker state, making its attacks harder to evade.

  • Rush Attack
    • Phase 1: The boss moves slightly backwards, and then rushes towards the player. If the player dodges in time, the boss will slam into a wall and become stunned for a second before recovering and starting the next attack.
    • Phase 2: Instead of getting stunned after hitting the wall, the boss recovers and rushes right back at the player. It repeats this move a few times without much delay between each rush. During this phase, it’s recommended to stay in the middle of the arena so you can dodge the charges easily.
  • Poison Spit
    • Phase 1: The boss jumps up to reorient itself, and spits out four globs of poison at the same time as it touches the ground. It repeats this move while rotating in a clockwise manner.
    • Phase 2: Instead of four globs of poison, the boss spits out eight globs of poison. These cover almost 180 degrees in the direction the boss is facing. To avoid them, make sure you dash behind the boss as soon as it starts rotating.
  • Shockwave
    • Phase 1: The Berserker slams down into the ground, shooting out a conical shockwave that gets bigger as it gets further away from the boss.
    • Phase 2: Instead of a conical wave, the slam starts a circular shockwave that radiates outward, covering the entire arena, with the boss being the center of the shockwave. Keep in mind that the dodge timing for this is different, since you can’t dodge behind the boss. You’ll need to stay a little further away from the boss when it’s performing this attack as dodging while close will end up with you in front of the back side of the shockwave.
  • Meteor
    • Phase 1: The boss jumps up, out of the screen. It casts a shadow on the ground that goes after the player. Once it’s on top of the player, it starts to shrink. Once it’s a certain size, the boss will slam down like a meteor on top of the player. The key to dodging this attack is to note the delay between the shadow’s size and the boss’ fall.
    • Phase 2: The attack doesn’t stop after the boss slams down. Instead, the Berserker jumps back up and repeats this attack a few more times.

Reward for Defeating The Berserker

REDACTED: How to Beat the Berserker

Beating the boss rewards the player with 2 additional Resources, which are necessary for unlocking various items in the main area. These Resources can only be acquired by defeating bosses. Players can utilize them to unlock new abilities, as well as gain additional skill slots, allowing the player to equip more than three skills simultaneously.

Following the defeat of the boss, players may advance into the subsequent area, themed around sewers. This new region presents a challenge with stronger foes, hazardous conditions laced with poison, and an abundance of valuable prizes.
