How To See Imitecs In Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned adventurer with countless hours spent delving into the depths of dungeons across various realms, I must confess that my encounters with Imitecs in Metaphor: ReFantazio have become a source of both excitement and trepidation. These cunning mimics are not for the faint-hearted, but their allure of hidden treasures never fails to ignite a spark of curiosity within me.

In the fantasy world of ReFantazio, treasures are often stored in chests, but not all of them are safe to just pop open. Some chests might turn out to be Imitecs – the game’s take on mimics. Once you begin opening a chest, there’s no escape from the ensuing battle except by either emerging victorious or being defeated.

In most dungeons, Imitecs are significantly stronger than regular foes, making it crucial to be well-prepared prior to engaging them in battle. Unlike other enemies, Imitecs cannot be confronted during overworld fights, increasing the challenge of defeating them. Fortunately, players can recognize an Imitec and take appropriate measures such as avoiding it or gearing up before entering combat; here’s how you spot one.

How To Spot An Imitec In Metaphor: ReFantazio

Identifying Imitecs is straightforward with the help of Fae Sight from Gallica. Ordinary chests exhibit a white border, whereas Imitecs show a color that signifies their level disparity with the player. Once an Imitec has been detected, you cannot engage in combat with it unless you open the chest. This implies that you can’t attempt to stun it through overworld combat.

In the overworld, Imitecs won’t initiate combat with the player; instead, they behave like environmental features that can be circumvented if you choose to avoid them. Although they can be bypassed, they are still considered encounterable entities, and defeating them not only grants the standard battle rewards but also awards an item, similar to looting a chest.

How To Beat Imitecs In Metaphor: ReFantazio

In the narrative of ‘Metaphor: ReFantazio’, various types of Imitecs exhibit distinct vulnerabilities, yet they all share one weakness linked to the Merchant Archetype which can be exploited. By employing the Merchant’s “Gold Assault”, the Imitec will be drawn towards the wealth and exhaust its remaining Press Turn icons. Even if the Imitec is targeting your weak points and gaining a third icon, it will still only attack once.

  • Gold Attack costs 500 Reeve to use.
  • Gold Attack deals weak Almighty damage and has a high chance of landing a critical hit.

Each turn, I’ve gotta unleash a Gold Attack to keep the pesky Imitec occupied. The expense is a small price to pay considering the EXP and Reeve points they dish out, not to mention the top-tier loot they drop. Compared to other finds in that dungeon, their dropped items are like nothing else, especially once they’ve been purified.
