The latest announcement about Gigantamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go has me absolutely thrilled!
Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon Go, has unveiled a sneak peek at an upcoming feature known as “Gigantamax Pokemon” through a fresh video release.
The latest video showcases music by composer Ramin Djawadi, who Niantic describes as having crafted an “epic soundtrack” specifically for the trailer.

International Pokémon Company, partnering with Niantic, revealed plans for Gigantamax’s release in Pokémon GO, set for October 26, 2024. This latest feature builds upon the Dynamax function introduced on September 10, 2024, enabling certain Pokémon to enlarge and alter their appearance during combat.
During special time-bound occasions, trainers will come across Gigantamax Pokemon, initially featuring Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise. Compared to regular Dynamax Pokemon, these creatures will present a greater challenge in battle, necessitating cooperation among trainers for successful encounters.
The latest trailer for Gigantamax boasts an Emmy-winning composer Ramin Djawadi’s score, enhancing its soundtrack to embody the magnitude and intensity of the fights. Crafted by The Pokémon Company International, this trailer offers a cinematic journey that mirrors the grandeur of Gigantamax.
Djawadi stated, ‘Gigantamax surpasses everyday dimensions and provided an ideal platform to craft this grand theme for the Pokémon GO trailer.’ Our aim was to fashion a theme emulating the hero’s voyage. With anticipation building amidst the ominous backdrop of these colossal Pokémon, gamers unite for an incomparable adventure as they conquer the seemingly insurmountable.
In a recent look at another new feature which launched (Party Play), Sean Smith said: “Pokemon GO shows no signs of letting up, and is still a hugely popular pursuit for millions of fans, myself included. I cannot wait to try these new features, but in the meantime I am off to hunt myself down a Shiny Pumpkaboo.”
Pokemon Go is out now on iOS and Android mobile devices, and is free to play.
