Nintendo has announced that players at the 2026 Pokemon Europe International Championships in London will get a first look at the new game, Pokemon Pokopia. The event, happening February 13–15, will give fans a chance to play the game nearly three weeks before it officially launches on March 5, 2026.
Revealed at the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Pokemon Pokopia is a relaxing life simulation game, much like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon. Players will play as a Ditto who can transform into a human and work to build a perfect island life for the Pokemon who live there. As you meet different Pokemon, you’ll learn new skills – like Water Gun from Squirtle or Leafage from Bulbasaur – that help you improve the island and make it a better home.
Pokemon Europe International Championship Attendees Will Get to Play Pokopia Early
Before the tournament begins on February 13th, Nintendo has announced that attendees of the 2026 Pokemon Europe International Championships will be among the first to try out a demo of the new Pokemon Pokopia game. Details about what the demo will include and how long it will last are still unknown. In addition to Pokemon Pokopia, the event will also feature a playable demo of Pokemon Legends: Z-A for the Nintendo Switch 2.
As a huge Pokémon fan, I was so excited by the detailed gameplay reveal of Pokémon Pokopia back in November 2025! We got about 10 minutes of new footage, and it looked amazing. The big thing is how the game revolves around building habitats to lure out specific Pokémon. They also showed off some cool new things Ditto can do – it can transform into Pokémon like Lapras to swim and even Dragonite to fly! Plus, it sounds like we’ll have tons of ways to customize our character and islands. They even teased a photo mode, co-op for up to four players, and a really neat feature where you can share the game with friends on the Nintendo Switch 2. But the coolest part? They ended the showcase by revealing new forms for three of my favorites: Pikachu (now Peakychu!), Snorlax (Mosslax!), and Smeargle (Smearguru!). I can’t wait to play!
The upcoming Pokémon event in London will include competitions in several popular games: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Unite. If you’re new to the Pokémon Trading Card Game, you can try out the Play Lab for demonstrations and even receive free promotional items. The 2026 Pokémon Europe International Championships will also have a special Pokémon Center shop with exclusive merchandise, including a unique Pikachu plush holding a display case.
Even though tickets to the 2026 Pokémon Europe International Championships are all gone, you can still enjoy the action by watching the livestream on YouTube and Twitch. And there’s a bonus: viewers can earn free in-game items for games like Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Pokémon GO, Pokémon TCG Live, and Pokémon Unite! For instance, watching the official Twitch stream for just 60 minutes will get you four ‘Mega Evolution – Ascended Heroes’ booster packs for Pokémon TCG Live, and special passwords shown during the stream will unlock rare illustration cards. Pokémon Scarlet & Violet players can also get a Hisuian Typhlosion inspired by top player Yuma Kinugawa by using passwords revealed during the stream.
