Non-FromSoftware Soulslike is Pulling in Big Steam Player Count Numbers

Nioh 3 has become the most popular game in the Nioh series on Steam, attracting more players at once than ever before. Team Ninja, the game’s developer, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025 and announced the third Nioh game during a PlayStation presentation. A key difference from the first two Nioh games is that Nioh 3 was released on PC and PlayStation at the same time, and this appears to have been a successful move.

Team Ninja’s newest action game quickly became popular after it was announced in June 2025, especially with a playable demo available on PlayStation 5. With FromSoftware’s next game, The Duskbloods, focusing on player-versus-player battles on the Switch 2, many fans realized Nioh 3 could offer the single-player experience they were looking for. The fact that it had been five years since the last Nioh game also built up excitement. Now that Nioh 3 is out, it’s proving to be everything people hoped for – which isn’t surprising given how good the series has been, but it’s still the biggest launch yet for the franchise.

Nioh 3 Passes 88,000 Concurrent Players on Steam

According to data from SteamDB, Nioh 3 had 88,045 players online at the same time on February 8, 2026 – just two days after its release. This is the highest number of PC players the series has ever seen. As of today, the game is the seventh best-selling on Steam and the fourth most wishlisted, suggesting continued interest from PC gamers. This success is even more notable considering Nioh 3 needed some optimization to run smoothly on PCs.

I’ve been following the launch of Nioh 3, and it’s seriously blown the other games out of the water! Nioh 2 hit over 41,000 concurrent players on Steam, which was already a big jump from the first Nioh with around 10,600.
