Battlefield 6 Reveals Changes Coming in Season 2

Electronic Arts has announced a series of improvements and new features coming to Battlefield 6 with the launch of Season 2 later this month. While the game initially generated a lot of excitement through beta tests and its release, player engagement has slowed. EA hopes to address player concerns and regain momentum with these updates, as Season 2 is expected to revitalize the game.

Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is taking a bit longer than planned. EA delayed its release in January, which means Season 1 lasted almost a month longer. The extra time is being used to improve the new content based on what players have been saying, though it’s unclear if bigger changes, like larger maps, will be included now or in future updates. EA has started sharing details about the gameplay improvements coming in the next big update, but the exact content of Season 2 is still unknown.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Updates and Improvements

Battlefield recently shared details about Season 2, including a new map called Contaminated. This map appears to be based on the Hagental Airbase in Germany, which was previously rumored in leaks. A new trailer not only confirmed the location but also revealed a limited-time game mode that will add strategic gameplay against Pax Armata. Later in the season, players can expect another fast-paced map and a different limited-time mode set in a dark, underground facility.

Season 2 features several key improvements, as detailed by EA. These changes make challenges more flexible by reducing focus on any single game mode and broadening what counts towards completion – for example, assists now contribute. They’ve also removed some of the more annoying challenges, like those requiring kills with specific weapons.

EA has also made improvements to how weapons handle recoil. They’ve adjusted automatic weapons to make each one feel unique and effective in its intended role. The game’s audio has been refined to be more clear and consistent, with better sound cues for movement, improved handling of multiple sounds happening at once, and more reliable playback of critical sounds during fights.

When Season 2 launches, players can expect a variety of improvements. EA also shared a preview of ongoing work at Battlefield Studios, including enhancements to core systems like how the game connects players (netcode), registers hits, and handles the ping system. They’re also working on visual clarity and improving audio, such as making footsteps clearer. To ensure changes are well-received, Battlefield Labs is letting players test new gameplay features before they’re officially released. The Contaminated map recently went through playtesting, and now testers are focusing on reworking the Golmud Railway map, with those changes planned for a future update.
