In Nioh 3, players can learn and apply various martial arts to their weapons. The Severing Spin is a particularly strong skill available early in the game, often found on Crucible swords. This guide explains how to obtain a Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin and how to transfer it to other weapons of the same type.
How to Get the Severing Spin Weapon Martial Art in Nioh 3
As a huge Nioh 3 fan, I’ve gotta say, Severing Spin is one of the best weapon arts! It lets you unleash a flurry of red slashes that hit everything around you – perfect for taking out groups of enemies. You’ll mostly find it on Crucible swords, but once you unlock it, you can actually use it with other swords too, which is awesome!
A great way to earn a Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin skill is to replay the main mission, “Crucible Manifested.” You can do this by visiting any Shrine and using the Battle Scroll feature to start the mission again. As you play, defeat enemies – especially stronger ones – and be sure to open all the containers you find.
When you find a sword in the Crucible, you’ll immediately see a flaming skull icon, which means it has a special Crucible skill. Look at the bottom of the weapon’s details to check if that skill is the Severing Spin martial art. Once you have a Crucible sword with Severing Spin, you can leave the mission – you don’t need to finish it to keep the sword.
The Crucible weapon with the Severing Spin is exclusive to the Samurai class. If you want to find it in your inventory, be sure you’ve selected the Samurai style first.
As soon as I got my hands on this weapon, I discovered a really cool move! It’s called the Severing Spin, and I can activate it instantly by pressing down on the left stick and the Y button (if I’m on a controller) or by hitting ‘E’ and right-clicking the mouse if I’m playing on PC. It’s super easy to pull off!
The Severing Spin ability works most effectively when you have an enemy selected. If you use it without a target, your character will just spin around and perform a strong attack instead.
To use the Severing Spin skill with different swords, you first need to increase your proficiency with the Crucible weapon. You can do this by equipping the Crucible and defeating enemies while on missions or exploring the open world.
Once you’ve become comfortable with the controls, go to the Customize Martial Arts/Ninjutsu menu and assign the Severing Spin move to your preferred button or key.
The Severing Spin skill works with certain types of swords, not all. Double-check you’ve chosen a compatible sword type before trying to assign the skill.
