Tempest Riko and Chiyome Team Guide in Persona 5 The Phantom X

Okay, so Tempest Riko โ€“ she’s basically the evolved form of Wind in Persona 5: The Phantom X. She’s a five-star support character, and honestly, she’s amazing at buffing your team with tons of different effects. Getting her means you need to rethink your team builds a bit though, since she changes class from Elucidator to Strategist. That means different Wonder Weapons and Personas to really make her shine!

As a big fan of Persona 5: The Phantom X, I found this guide super helpful! It breaks down everything you need to know about using Tempest Riko and Chiyome, including how to build a great team around them. It even gives recommendations for the best daggers for Wonder when she’s with the female Phantom Thief. Plus, it lists a bunch of Normal Personas that really shine when paired with Tempest Riko in battle โ€“ seriously useful stuff!

Tempest Riko is a key part of successful mono-wind teams in Wonder, even on the P5X Asia servers as of Version 4.8. When Version 4.0 launches globally, players will be able to replace Mona with Yukari Takeba, a new Medic character coming from Persona 3 Reload. Yukari not only heals, but also boosts attack power, applies Windswept status, reduces damage taken, and removes harmful effects, all to help Tempest Riko and her team.

Wonder can be a valuable secondary support character for teams, either boosting their stats or weakening enemies, thanks to his Personas. Heโ€™s especially useful in game modes that reward building teams around a single element, like the Challenge Battles in Velvet Trials, Thievesโ€™ Secrets, and the Trials of Astrolabe.

Tempest Riko and four-star Wind are not allowed in the same team.

Now that the five-star character Wind has been added, players can build a powerful team focused around a single strong attacker, supported by two limited five-star support characters. Chord and Tempest Riko both offer helpful buffs, but specialize in different areas. Chord A0 boosts Attack and damage output, and can inflict the Shock status effect. Tempest Riko A0, on the other hand, focuses on increasing Attack, Critical Hit Rate, and Critical Hit Damage, while also providing SP Recovery and the Windswept status effect.

Wonder excels as a primary healer and protector for the team, effectively functioning as a third support character. Teams built around a ‘hypercarry’ strategy are particularly successful in game modes with limited turns, like Trials from the Sea of Souls, Velvet Trials’ Challenge Battles, Gates of the Nightmare Catcher, and Trials of Astrolabe.

To prevent your entire team from being defeated in battle, always include a Persona for Wonder that has healing or shielding abilities.

Tempest Riko is a valuable asset for teams focused on Follow-Up attacks or Resonance, as she boosts the damage output of characters like Frostgale Kotone, Fox, Bui, Howler Justine, and Caroline. These characters all have the ability to hit enemies multiple times, making them especially effective with Rikoโ€™s buffs.

Wonder continues to be a valuable support teammate, offering healing or shields to protect Rikoโ€™s team. This combination works well in all types of battles and game modes, including the Metro of Desire, Thieves’ Secrets, Trials of Astrolabe, and the Tartarus Challenge.

Before starting a battle, make sure to verify each character’s Speed stat. Doing so will help you avoid errors when using your skills in the correct order.

Tempest Riko Best Wonder Daggers

Generic Wonder Weapons

Wonder Weapon Weapon Type Active Weapon Effect
5โ˜… Sennight Inferno Dagger At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Corroding Lava: For each Persona of a different attribute equipped, increase damage by 6.0%.
    • Stacks up to 3 times.
    • After knocking down a foe, decrease the target’s Defense by 15.0% for 1 turn.
  • Obtainable by unlocking the first Cognitive Palace and reaching 50% map explored.
5โ˜… Ex Machina Dagger At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Aura: When the user is on the field, increase the party’s Attack by 120.
    • Based on the attribute of the Persona equipped at the start of battle, increase the damage of that attribute by 17% and 40% for other allies.
  • Obtainable by unlocking the first half of the third Cognitive Palace and reaching 50% map explored.

Tempest Riko can choose between two special weapons: Sennight Inferno and Ex Machina. Sennight Inferno is a good choice for players just starting out, especially if they don’t have many Personas yet. Using three Personas with different strengths allows the weapon to deal extra damage and weaken enemies in battle.

Okay, so I finally made it through the first part of the third Cognitive Palace and got the Ex Machina dagger! From what I understand, as of the latest update (Version 3.2), this dagger is still really good if you haven’t managed to get Wonder’s special dagger from the Land of Fortune shop. What’s cool about Ex Machina is that it does more damage depending on the Persona I have equipped. Plus, if my teammates and I are all using the same element in a fight, we all get a damage boost โ€“ which is awesome for tackling tougher enemies!

Ex Machina works well on Wind-centric teams that include Kotone Frostgale, Tempest Riko, and Mona.

Specialized Wonder Weapons

5โ˜… Arc Knife Dagger At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Power of Creation: After inflicting an Elemental Ailment, increase Attack by 10% for 2 turns.
    • Increase Elemental Ailment Accuracy by 15%.
    • When attacking a foe, decrease the target’s Defense by 4.5%.
    • Increase this effect for each of the target’s Elemental Ailments, up to 4.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop or Land of Fortune Shop during the banner release of Phoebe.
5โ˜… Starry Compass Dagger At Forge Level 0:

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Universal Astrolabe: Gain the following effects based on number of stacks of Guidance.
    • 5 stacks: Decrease all foes’ Defense by 11%.
    • 10 stacks: Increase party’s Ailment Accuracy by 9%.
    • 15 stacks: Increase party’s Psychokinesis damage by 6%.
  • At the start of the battle, gain 10 Guidance stacks, and each time damage is dealt to a foe, gain 1 stack. At the end of the user’s turn, lose 5 Guidance stacks.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop or Land of Fortune Shop during the banner release of Noir.

For powerful daggers in Wonder, the Arc Knife and Starry Compass are excellent choices when playing with Tempest Riko. The Arc Knife is particularly good against single, tough enemies like story bosses and elite shadows. It also boosts the Protagonistโ€™s ability to inflict status effects and weakens an enemyโ€™s defense. Currently, since there isnโ€™t a dagger that focuses on Wind attacks available on global servers, the Arc Knife is the strongest option.

The Arc Knife is also reliable with other elemental attacks, such as Electric, Fire, and Ice.

When fighting several enemies with Tempest Riko, the Starry Compass is the most effective weapon to use. Although it’s designed for Psychokinesis, this dagger weakens the defenses of multiple foes. Building up 10 Guidance stacks also boosts the chance for Rikoโ€™s whole team to successfully inflict status effects during battle. This means Riko and her allies can apply elemental ailments more reliably over multiple turns.

Starry Compass helps Tempest Riko land ailment attacks more reliably in battle. A higher Effect Hit Rate means she has a better chance of inflicting the Windswept ailment on enemies.

If you’re using lower-level Personas, Wonder can summon Rangda, Surt, Arahabaki, or Girimehkala to weaken enemies. For inflicting elemental status effects, the Protagonist can summon Apsaras and Yurlungur to freeze or shock opponents.

You can also find basic Personas in the Metaverse by completing Cognitive Palaces or exploring Mementos.

Four-star Personas that represent regular people offer better buffs and more powerful elemental attacks for the Strategist Phantom Thief. Succubus and Dionysus can increase critical hit rates, and Nebiros inflicts a general weakening effect called Debilitate. Oberon and Kushinada-Hime, on the other hand, let you inflict stronger Freeze and Shock effects with elemental attacks.

Okay, so getting Oberon, Dionysus, Kushinada-Hime, and Nebiros is a bit tricky. You need to have enough Stamina stocked up in the Realm of Expression. And heads up โ€“ you can’t just get them all in one go; you’ll have to run through that Realm multiple times to collect them all!

Five-star Personas are powerful, boasting strong elemental attacks and helpful support skills that complement Tempest Riko. Rarer Personas like Janosik, Sahimochi-no-Kami, Narcissus, Leanan Sidhe, and Alice offer unique attacks with impactful buffs and debuffs. Notably, Vishnu and Narcissus can inflict the Windswept status with their potent Wind attacks. Finally, Dominion and Throne excel at buffing the entire team, making them valuable assets.

Some high-rarity Normal Personas are obtainable early in the game, like Succubus and Leanan Sidhe.

Adding Tempest Riko to your team in Persona 5: The Phantom X greatly improves your options for building powerful teams. Alongside Riddle and Chord, you’ll have three top-tier support characters to tackle difficult content that requires rotating teams, such as Trials from the Sea of Souls, Gates of the Nightmare Catcher, and Trials of Astrolabe. With the best Wonder daggers and appropriate Normal Personas, you can easily complete all Version 3.2 story missions, battles, and endgame challenges in P5X.
