How to Get More Food in Mewgenics

When you first start playing Mewgenics, food is usually easy to come by. You’ll earn a decent amount with each successful run, and you won’t have too many cats to feed. But as you breed stronger cats and play more, you’ll quickly realize that food starts to become scarce. Don’t worry, though! This guide will cover all the ways to get more food in Mewgenics, so your cats stay happy and healthy – and you avoid any negative consequences from letting them go hungry.

How to Get More Food in Mewgenics

In Mewgenics, you can increase your food supply through three primary methods: battling, participating in Adventure Events, and interacting with the character Tracy. Here’s a more detailed look at each one.

Battles

You earn food by winning battles during your cat’s adventures. Early battles give you a small amount of food, but as you advance and defeat stronger enemies – including bosses – you’ll get more.

Just so you know, any food you collect during a run isn’t actually yours until you get back home. You need to defeat a boss and reach the ‘Home’ icon on the map to save it. Until then, it’s only temporary. If you die or end your adventure before getting home, you’ll lose any food and items you collected.

Chance Encounters

During your adventure, you’ll come across events marked with a ‘?’ on the map – these aren’t battles, but chances to make choices for your cat. How well your cat does depends on their skills. Succeeding can earn you items, boost your cat’s abilities, and sometimes even provide food.

The amount of food you get from these encounters is random, so you can’t depend on them to consistently feed your cat. Like food from battles, you also have to return home with it for it to actually be added to your supplies.

Buying Food from Tracy

Finally, you can simply buy cat food from Tracy at Paw-Mart. You’ll find Paw-Mart in the NPC menu when you’re back home. She sells cat food in packs of 10 for five coins, which you can collect by searching battlefields after winning fights.

Tracy manages the shop you can visit while playing. I’ve found it usually sells items to help with combat or the current run, but rarely includes cat food.

How to Increase Cat Food Storage in Mewgenics

At the beginning of the game, you can only carry 100 cat food, which is enough to start. However, as you collect more cats, you’ll need to increase your storage capacity. To do this, give Tracy 10 cats who are at least five years old, then purchase the Food Storage Box upgrade for 100 coins.

So, once I bought it, I just went into the furniture menu and placed the box inside my house. It instantly boosted how much cat food I could store by 40, which is awesome!

What Happens If You Run Out of Food in Mewgenics?

If your cats don’t receive food, they’ll quickly become very hungry, and by the second day without eating, they could die. It’s important to ensure they always have access to food.

If cats are severely hungry, they might eat the corpses of other cats that have died in your home. This can give them a special ability called Necrophage. With Necrophage, a cat will automatically move towards any nearby corpses at the start of its turn in battle. This movement boosts their stats and restores 4 health points, but it doesn’t happen every time.
