As someone who has spent countless hours catching ’em all since the days of Red and Blue, I must say that the recent introduction of Gigantamax mons in Pokemon GO is nothing short of exhilarating! The Max Out season was already an exciting time for trainers, but with the announcement of the Go Bigger event, it’s taken things to a whole new level.

Pokemon GO has long awaited Gen 8 characters, and now it’s showing its affection by incorporating the core Dynamax feature from Pokemon Sword and Shield during its Max Out season. Along with this exciting new mechanic, players of Pokemon GO are also receiving a special treat – several monsters originally hailing from the Galar region that hadn’t been introduced before, including the Gen 8 starters: Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. The game is about to reach even greater heights with the announcement of the Go Bigger event, which will introduce G-Max monsters to the game.

During the onset of Pokemon GO’s Max Out season, Gigantamax (G-Max) creatures were not accessible. But from October 26th to 27th, players can encounter these special G-Max monsters in six-star Max Battles. This event is expected to add excitement to the ongoing season in Pokemon GO. However, the specific G-Max mons featured during this event could have been more fitting with the current theme.

Pokemon GO’s Go Bigger Event is Great, But Should Have Featured G-Max Gengar

These upcoming Max Battles in Pokemon GO against Gigantamax monsters are poised to be its toughest test yet. Players might find it necessary to join forces in big teams, with anywhere from 10 to 40 players needed to vanquish these massive creatures. Nevertheless, considering the extensive effort required to conquer and secure these G-Max mons, Niantic could have added a touch of seasonal allure by introducing the eerie G-Max Gengar as the inaugural Raid Boss for this system.

G-Max Pokemon Featured in Pokemon GO’s Go Bigger Event

As a gamer, I’m excited about the first three G-Max monsters that will be unveiled during the Go Bigger event: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, which are iconic Gen 1 starters. However, considering the timing of this event, it seems like we could use a monster more fitting for Halloween, such as G-Max Gengar, to truly set the spooky tone. Despite the appeal of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, I can’t help but feel that incorporating G-Max Gengar would make this event even more captivating for players during the Halloween season.

G-Max Gengar Would Have Been the Perfect Way to Introduce the Mechanic for the Halloween Season

Among all the G-Max monsters, none embodies the spirit of Halloween quite like Gengar. This Gen 1 Ghost-type monster already has a unique and iconic status, but its G-Max form takes it to another level by transforming it into a colossal, gaping-mouthed beast that resembles a spooky funhouse at the carnival. Moreover, Gengar is the only Ghost-type monster to have a G-Max form, making it particularly fitting for this eerie season’s introduction.

In the most recent trailer, it’s been revealed that Orbeetle, Kingler, Alcremie, and Toxtricity will join the game as their G-Max variants. However, there’s no definite information about when these new G-Max forms will make their appearance.

As a dedicated Pokémon Go player, I’m eagerly anticipating the arrival of the spooktacular G-Max Gengar during the Halloween event next year! Although the G-Max Orbeetle could give it a run for its money in terms of creepy factor, Gengar has the edge due to its iconic status, being one of the first to debut the G-Max mechanic back in Gen 1. The event runs from October 26-27, and while the exact timing for the introduction of G-Max Gengar is yet to be confirmed, it’s likely we’ll see it during part 2 of Pokémon Go’s Halloween 2024 event. Despite missing out on a seasonal debut being a bit of a letdown, I can’t help but be thrilled about the arrival of G-Max forms in Pokémon Go and the potential for future themed events they could bring!
