Dr Disrespect Responds to Kick Founder Comments

Key Takeaways

  • Kick co-founder stated it makes no sense to sign Dr Disrespect, calling it a waste of money.
  • Dr Disrespect responded, claiming he wouldn’t stream on Kick and boasted about his community.

As a seasoned gamer with a decade of streaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of amusement at the ongoing saga between Dr Disrespect and Kick. While it’s clear that Dr Disrespect commands a formidable presence in the gaming world, with a community that is truly second to none, it seems that even his charisma can’t charm everyone.

Dr Disrespect has responded to a recent statement by the co-founder of Kick regarding signing him to the platform. The comments are just the latest in the streamer’s attempt to return to normalcy following the revelations around his ban from Twitch.

Recently, Dr Disrespect took a break from streaming after allegations surfaced about his ban from Twitch being due to private messaging with a minor on the platform. When it was revealed what those conversations entailed, YouTube removed ads from his content, leading some to think he might move to a different platform. However, contrary to expectations, Dr Disrespect has resumed streaming on YouTube and there’s no indication that he or Kick is planning for him to transition to their platform.

Earlier, Edward Kraven, co-founder of streaming platform Kick, declared that they had no intention of signing Dr Disrespect. According to him, from a business viewpoint, it wouldn’t be financially sound to include Dr Disrespect on the Kick platform, and he considered it as squandering resources. As could be anticipated, Dr Disrespect didn’t sit idly by, responding that he would rather retire than join Kick. He also asserted that his fan base is top-notch in the industry and he wouldn’t subject them to Kick. Moreover, he implied that there was a reason why Kick kept mentioning his name.

Kick and Dr Disrespect’s Future Streaming Plans

Earlier, Kick had proposed a streaming deal worth $10 million annually to Dr Disrespect. But he declined, insisting on a minimum of $50 million per year. While Kick has been making expensive deals with other content creators like xQc (who got a $100 million contract), it’s important to note that the amount included $70 million for two years, with the rest being contingent on meeting certain goals. Given Dr Disrespect’s request for $50 million before the controversy about his inappropriate conversations with a minor, it seems understandable why Kick wouldn’t pursue him now.

Despite what’s been discussed, Dr Disrespect’s YouTube channel is yet to restore its monetization. It remains uncertain whether he will continue with this platform or switch to another one. Some speculate that Rumble or Twitter could be his next destinations, but for now, Twitch and Kick are not viable options.
