Steam is Finally Getting One of the Most Underrated Action-RPGS of Last Year

Gamers on Steam will get a new dark fantasy action RPG called Blades of Fire this spring. Many consider it one of the best games of 2025, and it’s coming to Steam after being available for a year on other platforms like the Epic Games Store.

Blades of Fire is an action game taking place in a world where metal weapons turn to stone. Players follow Aran de Lira, a warrior who can create his own steel weapons using a special, sacred hammer. He’s joined by Adso de Zelk, a young scholar who provides knowledge and chronicles Aran’s adventures. The game is published by 505 Games and created by MercurySteam, the studio behind titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Spacelords, and Metroid Dread. MercurySteam is particularly known for Metroid Dread, which they co-developed with Nintendo and is widely considered one of the best Metroidvania games of the last decade.

Blades of Fire is Finally Coming to Steam This Spring

I’m so excited! After all the great reviews, it looks like even more people are going to get a chance to play Blades of Fire – it’s seriously one of the best action games of 2025! It’s finally coming to Steam on Thursday, May 14th, which is almost a year after it first launched on Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. But that’s not all – they’re also releasing a huge Version 2.0 update for everyone! It’s packed with new stuff, like a New Game Plus mode and a super tough Titanium Challenge Level to really test your skills. Plus, they’re adding a Photo Mode, which I’ve been waiting for! And get this – you can even rematch bosses with Aran in a new Boss Revival Mode for extra rewards. Apparently, you can even unlock spells for Adso so he can buff Aran’s weapons – that sounds amazing!

The upcoming 2.0 update for Blades of Fire will include a helpful new feature called Element Transmutation, letting players change the materials used to create weapons. While specifics are still being revealed, this could make it easier for new players to craft useful early-game weapons and overcome tough challenges. Remember, Blades of Fire doesn’t have traditional weapon drops, so choosing the right weapon to forge is important. The update will also add full customization of keyboard and mouse controls, as well as support for the Steam Deck.

Steam Users Can Try Out Blades of Fire Now

A free demo of Blades of Fire is now available on Steam so you can test if your computer can handle the game. The demo needs about 30 GB of space. Keep in mind, Blades of Fire requires a powerful PC to run well. The game recommends an 8-core processor (like the Ryzen 7 5800X), a mid-range graphics card (such as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6800XT), and at least 54 GB of free storage. Because of the game’s detailed graphics, installing it on a solid-state drive (SSD) is also a good idea. The upcoming Version 2.0 will add support for Nvidia DLSS 4 upscaling, which should improve performance for some players.

With its combat system focusing on strategy and stamina rather than fast-paced button-mashing, the demo for Blades of Fire offers players a chance to experience the game before its release on Steam on May 14th. It’s still uncertain how well Blades of Fire will be received by Steam users when it launches this spring.
