The popular puzzle-platformer Braid: Anniversary Edition is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2! This updated version of the 2008 indie hit lets players experience Braid with improved graphics, new levels, remixed music, and in-depth commentary from creator Jonathan Blow. It showcases how even classic games can benefit from the Nintendo Switch 2’s powerful hardware.
Man, Braid was the game that really put Johnathan Blow on the map. When it first came out, everyone was talking about it – critics loved it! It’s honestly one of those games that helped kickstart the whole indie game scene as we know it. It really showed everyone that you could make something special outside of the big studios, and it helped turn Xbox Live Arcade into a place where you could find all these cool, unique games. They recently released an Anniversary Edition in May 2024 for PC and consoles, which is awesome because it means a whole new generation gets to experience this classic.

I was so excited to see that Braid, one of my all-time favorite indie games, just got another upgrade! It seems like Nintendo quietly released an Anniversary Edition for the Switch 2 – Nintendo Everything spotted it first on the Japanese eShop, and it should be rolling out to other regions soon. Apparently, this new version runs even smoother with a better frame rate, looks gorgeous with 4K support, and has even more developer commentary to dig into. It’s awesome to see the game continue to get love and improvements!

Considering how often indie games are now nominated for Game of the Year awards, Braid’s impact on the industry is huge.
