Xbox Game Pass Adds 2 Day-One Games

Xbox Game Pass has been updated with two new games: BlazBlue Entropy Effect X and Roadside Research. Both were released on February 12th and are now available to play for subscribers. These additions make a total of 29 games added to Xbox Game Pass so far this year.

Okay, so I’ve been playing BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, and it’s seriously cool! It’s a side-scrolling action game set in the BlazBlue world – you know, the one with all the awesome fighting game characters. This version is an upgraded take on a game that came out last year, and it adds a whole new story and lets you play as Naoto Kurogane, which is awesome. Everyone seems to love it too – it’s got a really high score on OpenCritic, around 85, and most reviewers are recommending it, like 92% of them! It’s a roguelite, so expect some replayability and a challenge.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X Joins Xbox Game Pass Alongside Roadside Research

On February 12th, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X became available on all current gaming consoles and was added to Xbox Game Pass. Joining it is a new game called Roadside Research, which is currently in early access. Developed by Cybernetic Walrus, this unique simulator puts you in control of aliens who run a gas station as a disguise for their human experiments. Players need to keep up appearances to avoid detection by government agents—or risk being turned into goo! Roadside Research can be played solo or with up to four players in co-op mode, adding another option for cooperative gameplay on Xbox Game Pass.

Currently, you can play both Roadside Research and BlazBlue Entropy Effect X with a PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. While they might become available in the Game Pass Premium tier sometime in the latter half of 2026, Microsoft doesn’t have a set schedule for adding games from other companies to that tier. Generally, you can expect more consistent release dates for games made directly by Microsoft’s development teams.

Xbox Game Pass recently added two games ahead of schedule. While Starsand Island was planned for release on February 12th, it became available a day early on February 11th. Diablo 2: Resurrected also surprised players with its early arrival on the 11th, and is now available on all Game Pass tiers except the Essential plan.

Xbox Game Pass is getting two new games on February 13th: High on Life 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance. A few games will leave the service on February 15th, but it’s a small list – only Madden NFL 24 will be removed. Then, on February 17th, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be added, and Xbox is expected to announce the second wave of games coming to Game Pass that month.
