In the game No Man’s Sky, Paraffinium is a resource players can obtain through finding, refining, or buying. It’s especially useful during the Remnant Expedition, where players collect industrial waste from a specific planet. Paraffinium is a key ingredient in building the Colossus Exocraft. This guide explains how to get Paraffinium during the expedition and also covers methods for obtaining it in the regular game.
How To Get Paraffinium In No Man’s Sky
In No Man’s Sky, Paraffinium is a versatile resource used to create items like Aronium, Star Bramble, and Ammonia. You also need it for building, repairing, and upgrading things. Here’s a complete guide to obtaining and crafting Paraffinium.
Refining To Get Paraffinium
Players can create Paraffinium using a Portable Refiner and Carbon as fuel by processing different resources. Some recipes make only a small amount of Paraffinium, but others produce more, often requiring harder-to-find materials.
| Input | Paraffinium Output |
|---|---|
| 1 Silver + 1 Oxygen | 2 |
| 2 Star Bulb + 1 Salt | 1 |
| 2 Pyrite + 1 Ferrite Dust | 1 |
| 2 Pyrite + 1 Pure Ferrite | 1 |
| 1 Sulphurine + 1 Ferrite Dust | 1 |
| 1 Sulphurine + 1 Pure Ferrite | 2 |
| 1 Sulphurine + 1 Magnetised Ferrite | 3 |
During the Remnant Expedition, you can find Pyrite Deposits all over the place, and Ferrite Dust is easy to collect from rocks. This makes them the best way to get Paraffinium on this mission. The planet is too empty to have Paraffinium Deposits directly.

While you’re exploring, you’ll have a Personal Refiner with you, letting you refine items wherever you are.
Paraffinium Can Be Bought From Galactic Trade Terminals

As a space explorer, I’ve learned that if you’re looking for Paraffinium, the Galactic Trade Terminals are the place to check! You can find them at Space Stations, usually downstairs from where you buy all your ship upgrades. They don’t always have Paraffinium, but when they do, it’s for Units, so it’s worth a look!
- Paraffinium’s base value is 85 Units.
Paraffinium Can Be Found On Tropical Planets
You can find Paraffinium naturally on planets with lots of vegetation, like tropical worlds. Before you land with your ship, the ‘C’, scan the planet to see if it’s listed as a resource.

Once you land on the planet, use your Analysis Visor (press F) to locate Paraffinium Deposits. Switch to the Terrain Manipulator using the G key, then use it to mine the deposits.
Besides finding Paraffinium in deposits, it can also appear in other minerals. Using the Analysis Visor to scan these minerals will show you what resources you’ll get when you harvest them.
