Without a doubt, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are the most renowned characters in Mortal Kombat lore. Fortunately, Sub-Zero doesn’t let us down. He freezes and impales opponents using various methods that longtime players will recognize, although this stops him from reaching S-Tier. Nevertheless, Sub-Zero effectively taps into his immense capabilities, pushing the competition forward.
In Mortal Kombat 1, Omni-Man stands out as a distinctive character, and his Brutalities make full use of this distinctiveness. Despite some comparison between Omni-Man and Homelander in their portrayals of “Evil Superman,” their Brutalities maintain separate identities. In one of his most impressive moves, Omni-Man casually walks through an opponent, effectively transforming them into mush.
In Mortal Kombat 1, I’ve noticed that Sindel truly maximizes her weaponry, which stands out when compared to other characters. Sindel is renowned for her deafening screams, but it’s her Brutalities that really shine. Regrettably, the game doesn’t always fully utilize his capabilities, and most of his Brutalities are just head-chopping actions. However, he compensates for this with an impressive array of explosive moves. Notably, he can blast through opponents using his helmet, which adds a touch of originality to his combat style.
In the popular game Mortal Kombat, Raiden is undeniably one of the most memorable characters. Thankfully, his Brutalities live up to the hype. Many characters brandishing blades exhibit comparable displays of power, however, what makes Tanya special is her unique weapon, which lends itself to a one-of-a-kind fighting approach. While her brutalities might not be the most gory or imaginative, they are still engaging to watch.
Baraka’s attacks could best be characterized as intensely raw or gruesomely graphic, suitably reflecting his weapon-like arms. Primarily, he inflicts a brutal, straightforward dismemberment on opponents, which sadly leaves many of the game’s characters at a significant disadvantage.
The selection of brutalities for Reptile isn’t particularly striking, which is a pity given his significant enhancement in Mortal Kombat 1. However, his lizard-like appearance manages to keep him from the bottom tier. His best brutalities leverage his actual reptilian form, but those that highlight his invisibility are less captivating.
D-Tier Brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Ashrah dismembers her adversaries with her sword. Unfortunately, none of these encounters are particularly memorable or unique. Since there are numerous swords available in Mortal Kombat 1, a combatant needs something extraordinary to truly demonstrate their skill.
It seems that Scorpion’s brutalities in Mortal Kombat 1 aren’t particularly intriguing or thrilling. Many fail to fully utilize his exceptional skills, and those that do often lack creativity. What’s more concerning is that they share a striking resemblance with Fatalities in the amount of violence Scorpion unleashes on his adversary. While Scorpion’s overall character in Mortal Kombat 1 is innovative and refreshing, this novelty seldom translates to his brutalities.
Kung Lao might not be renowned for grand displays, but his finishing moves certainly add an element of amusement. Each one highlights his skills, though they may not always justify being called a Brutality. To put it simply, while he doesn’t flaunt anything truly extraordinary, he does have some entertaining tricks up his sleeve.
