How to View a Cat’s Ancestry in Mewgenics

In Mewgenics, you’ll build a team of cats to battle with, but breeding plays a huge role too. Letting your cats breed randomly will result in weaker kittens. To get truly powerful cats for adventures, you’ll need to learn about their traits, separate them strategically, and avoid inbreeding. Luckily, Mewgenics lets you check each cat’s family tree to help prevent inbreeding and breed the strongest possible team.

How to View a Cat’s Family Tree in Mewgenics

You can see the family tree for your cats once you’ve given Tink 21 of them. To view a cat’s family tree, select the cat, then click the family tree icon in its bio menu – it’s located just to the left of the cat’s picture.

This is actually the third upgrade you’ll receive from Tink. The first one, earned by donating a single kitten, gives you the Fancy Bow. The second upgrade unlocks two new views: Base Stats, which shows the traits cats pass to their kittens, and Bonus Stats, which shows how much those traits can vary. You get this second upgrade after donating ten kittens.

Tink’s latest update lets you see if a cat has inbreeding in its family history. This is useful because inbreeding can lead to health problems for kittens. The more inbreeding a cat has, the higher the chance its offspring will be born with defects that negatively affect their abilities. These cats may also have less appealing appearances.

Okay, so I finally figured out all the cat family trees and sent another 20 kittens to Tink. Now I can add little symbols to their names! I’m using these symbols to mark which cats are related – like, all the cats from the same family get the same symbol. It’s a clever way to keep track of things and hopefully prevent any accidental inbreeding down the line.

As a breeder, I’m really excited about this new feature! They’re adding a little icon next to each cat’s age on their bio page. It’s a super easy way to see if a cat has any inbreeding, which is great. Basically, if the icon looks normal, that cat is a good option to breed with your other top cats – it means they don’t have any close family connections in their background.
