One Change For Destiny 2's Warlock Cosmetics is Long Overdue

As a seasoned Destiny 2 player with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos and mastering the arcane arts as a Warlock, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment when it comes to our class’s aesthetic offerings. While other classes like Titans and Hunters have seen a plethora of unique and dynamic armor sets, we Warlocks seem to be stuck in a loop of loincloth-esque designs that are starting to feel more repetitive than mystical.

In Destiny 2, the cosmetics for Warlock characters haven’t seen much development compared to the diverse changes and possibilities offered to other classes such as Titans and Hunters. Given that Warlocks symbolize intelligence, mystical wisdom, and arcane power, there are numerous design concepts they could draw from. Unfortunately, many players believe this potential has not been fully exploited, and with good reason.

In the world of Destiny 2, Warlock players often voice their discontent about the frequent use of loincloth-like armor designs. These armor sets often include flowing robes with garments that resemble skirts or loincloths, leading to a monotonous and at times, unoriginal appearance. It’s high time for fresh, innovative ideas in Warlock cosmetics, and it’s essential that this look is upgraded to something more inspiring.

Leaving Behind Loincloth Armor and Repetitive Design Themes

Instead of continually relying on the traditional robe style for Warlocks, which reinforces their mystical and scholarly persona but restricts visual diversity, Bungie in Destiny 2 might benefit from exploring a wider range of inspirations. This could include elaborate, unconventional designs that deviate from this stereotype, such as long robes billowing with magical energy, dramatic capes charged with arcane power, or ancient armor adorned with Light or Darkness from forgotten civilizations.

Alternative descriptions for inspirational elements could include cloaks adorned with celestial patterns, magical armors that sparkle like cosmic dust, or ephemeral wings that expand during intense spells. This is due to the fact that Warlocks’ gear and armor should mirror their exploration of forbidden lore, thereby creating an otherworldly appearance while exuding a mysterious, mystical atmosphere.

Start With Less Focus on Cloth and More on Arcane Energy

To shake off this conventional image, consider swapping out bulky designs for armor that appears as if it’s been spun from mystical energy or raw magic. This change would instantly improve their visual appeal. Furthermore, it would set them apart from Hunters, who prioritize stealth and swiftness, and Titans, who focus on strength and defense. Additionally, many current Warlock skins give off a robotic rather than wizardly vibe.

In Destiny 2, instead of traditional cloth and metal armor, Warlock cosmetics could fuse magical energy with intricate armor designs. This would be achieved through floating embellishments, mystical glyphs, and spell-like animations that radiate light. These striking design choices would emphasize the Warlock’s role as a powerful intellectual force in the game, while also making a bold fashion statement.

Bring the Traditional Warlock Vibe With Hoodless Cloaks

A cloak’s style echoes the timeless symbolism of a sorcerer or enchanter, invoking the magical world of Role-Playing Games where such characters exude an air of mystery and authority. In Destiny 2, Warlocks are known for their wizard-like persona, and they call for an assertive and powerful appearance that current cosmetics seem to miss.

A long and thick hoodless cloak like those that characters such as Doctor Stranger wearwould give Warlocks a distinctive and proper magic-y vibe that would differentiate them from the battle-hardened Titans and nimble Hunters. Dota 2 Warlock skins could be a great way for the franchise to have its inspiration seen through. Currently, Hunters dominate the market for cloaks, which makes sense for their class identity, but the addition of similar features for Warlocks — perhaps more ornate and magical in nature, ideally without hoods so they are not confused with Hunters, would satisfy the community’s request for bolder looks that feel different from the game’s existing gear sets.
