Great news for fans! Sony and Sucker Punch Productions announced today during their February 12, 2026 State of Play livestream that the long-awaited Legends multiplayer mode for ‘Ghost of Yotei’ will be released on March 10, 2026. This new expansion lets players team up and fight supernatural enemies together.
Originally planned as a way to continue supporting the game after its release in August 2025, Legends mode lets players team up and play Ghost of Yotei with friends. This free update is available to anyone who owns the game and changes the experience from a solo adventure to a cooperative multiplayer one, similar to the popular Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei Legends Launches on March 10, 2026
Instead of a story-driven solo experience like in the main game, Ghost of Yotei: Legends focuses on fighting demonic versions of the Yotei Six – the game’s main enemies. You can play with one other person or a team of four, and the mode features different kinds of missions to keep things challenging and fun to play again and again.
When Ghost of Yotei launches, its Legends mode will include three different mission types. One is Survival, where up to four players team up to fight off tougher and tougher waves of enemies on four different maps. These missions focus on controlling key areas – holding them gives your team helpful bonuses (Blessings), but losing control applies negative effects (Curses) that change how you fight and force you to adjust your strategy.
The game also features a Story mission arc where two players team up to complete a series of twelve missions focused on a compelling narrative. Finishing every three missions unlocks Incursions – large-scale, four-player battles. These Incursions end with challenging boss fights against giant, supernatural versions of the Yotei Six – Spider, Oni, Kitsune, and Snake.
Players can look forward to another challenging Raid in April, adding even more multiplayer content after the game’s release. This Raid will pit teams against the Dragon and Lord Saito, a powerful character from the story. These encounters are intended for highly skilled players who want the ultimate test of teamwork and strategy in Legends.
Ghost of Yotei Legends’ Four Classes
- SAMURAI — A versatile frontline fighter with access to a wide range of weapon types, including the massive ōdachi.
- ARCHER — Skilled in long-range engagements and capable of wielding the yari (spear), with an additional ranged weapon slot.
- MERCENARY — Focused on agility and utility, dual-wielding katanas and offering abilities that support team dynamics.
- SHINOBI — A stealth-oriented class that uses the kusarigama and a suite of mobility-focused skills to disrupt foes and control the battlefield.
So, in Ghost of Yotei Legends, we’ve got four classes you can play as: the Samurai, Archer, Mercenary, and Shinobi. We can all use a katana and something ranged, but each class really shines in a different way. They all take advantage of the game’s weapons and combat in a unique style, letting you play how you want.
Players can customize how their characters look by unlocking special armor as they play and complete challenges. Beyond standard rewards, the game also offers powerful, unique weapons and gear for those who tackle its hardest content.
Ever since the announcement of Ghost of Yotei, fans have been eagerly anticipating the next installment of Legends, particularly those who loved the multiplayer expansion added to Ghost of Tsushima. The original Legends mode was popular for its cooperative gameplay and atmosphere, and Sucker Punch is aiming to recapture that magic with this new version. Now with a confirmed release date of March 10th, Ghost of Yotei Legends gives both returning players and newcomers a compelling reason to explore the snowy landscapes of Ezo with friends, offering challenging story missions, survival challenges, and intense boss battles.
