Luck Stat Explained in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Luck Stat Explained in Metaphor: ReFantazio

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours clocked in various RPGs, I can confidently say that the Luck stat in Metaphor: ReFantazio is a game-changer – pun intended! While I’ve always been a fan of the more straightforward stats like Strength and Magic, the subtle nuances of Luck have made my gaming experience all the more exciting.

In the game “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, players are able to assign points to five attributes upon leveling up: Strength, Magic, Agility, Endurance, and Luck. These attribute assignments enhance the performance of the unique playstyles associated with each trait.

Understanding what each stat does and which ones are worth investing precious points into is key information to have in this game, especially at higher difficulties. While Strength and Magic are fairly self-explanatory, the Luck stat is a bit harder to understand. Here is how it works.

How Does Luck Work in Metaphor: ReFantazio

Luck Stat Explained in Metaphor: ReFantazio

In the game Metaphor: ReFantazio, one of the five key attributes that players can improve is Luck. Enhancing your Luck boosts the chances of critical hits, obtaining items, causing status ailments, and amplifying specific abilities, such as those wielded by the Merchant Archetype.

What Is Critical Hit Rate

It’s worth mentioning that raising Luck doesn’t boost the probability of your strikes connecting, but rather boosts the chance of inflicting critical damage when strikes do connect. To enhance the rate of hits, you can invest points in Agility, one of the other stats. Critical Hits can be achieved not only through melee attacks but also via melee skills as well.

As a magic enthusiast, I’ve come to understand that abilities that inflict magical damage, such as the Mage Archetype’s Bot or the Seeker Archetype’s Cyc, don’t gain any advantage from boosted Luck since they aren’t capable of scoring critical hits. It’s only the physical skills that can achieve those devastating crits.

What Is Item Drop Rate

Each time the player overcomes an adversary, they get a fixed amount of Experience, Archetype Experience, Magla, and Reeve. Moreover, there’s a probability that they will acquire weapons, armor, accessories, consumables, and treasures based on the kind of enemy vanquished. Boosting the Luck stat enhances the likelihood of obtaining one of these items following a triumph. However, it’s important to note that Luck does not impact EXP, A-EXP, MAG, or Reeve.

What is Status Affliction

In the game ‘Metaphor: ReFantazio’, some unique abilities and items have the power to influence the opponent with various statuses such as Burn, Charm, Forget, Stun, among others. Yet, it’s important to note that even when a skill claims to induce Forget, for instance, the probability of this happening relies on Luck. As a result, the Luck factor determines the odds of enemies being affected by status effects whenever a related skill or item is employed.

Skills Affected By Luck

There are two types of skills that become more effective with more Luck.

  • Multi-hit Skills: Skills that hit the target multiple times within a range—like the Warrior’s Slicer Skill (hits target 2-4 times)—will hit more frequently.
  • Chance-based Skills: Skills that rely on chance to work will have their effectiveness passively increased. For example, the Thief’s Pickpocket Hero Passive, which gives the Hero a chance of receiving an item if an enemy is stunned or defeated in overworld combat, will trigger more often.

How to Increase Luck

There are four ways to increase Luck in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

  • Stat Point Allocation: Whenever the protagonist levels up, players can put a point into Luck to increase it permanently.
  • Archetype Bonus: Certain Archetypes, like the Merchant and the Faker, provide a boost to the Luck stat as long as they’re in effect.
  • Equippable Items: Certain weapons, armor, and accessories provide a luck bonus for as long as they are equipped. Check the item descriptions for detailed stats.
  • Temporary Luck Boost: Using the toilet on the Gauntlet Runner on an Idlesday (discount day) provides a temporary luck boost that lasts for the rest of the day.
