A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light (Season 3, Episode 11)

The Swordsmith Village Arc concludes a significant chapter in Tanjiro’s story. His path hasn’t just been about battling demons; it’s been shaped by immense personal loss. After demons destroyed his family and turned his sister into one of them, Tanjiro needed to grow stronger. He had to protect his sister, but also keep her safe from those who saw her as a danger, both demons and humans alike.

In this episode, Tanjiro takes the lead in battling a powerful Upper Rank Demon, showing incredible growth. However, viewers were shocked as Nezuko faced a life-threatening situation. While Tanjiro pursued Hantengu, the rising sun began to harm Nezuko. In a desperate moment, she pushed Tanjiro away, urging him to prioritize saving others instead of her.

In the end, the story of the siblings seemed to reach its conclusion. Though Tanjiro and his companions had defeated Hantengu, he was overcome with grief for his sister. However, to his surprise, he found Nezuko not only alive, but now safe from the sun’s harmful rays. This led to a deeply emotional reunion, with the siblings and their friends embracing. This moment represented everything they had struggled through, and highlighted how important Nezuko would be to the story going forward.

The Hashira Unite (Season 4, Episode 8)

This episode kicks off with a truly incredible scene: Muzan’s arrival at the Ubuyashiki Mansion is breathtaking and instantly grabs your attention. The conversation that follows between Muzan and Kagaya reveals how insecure Muzan really is, while also showing that Tanjiro and the Hashiras are a genuine danger to him. Kagaya’s surprising sacrifice leads directly into a quick, intense fight with Muzan and Himejima. Even just these moments would make the episode stand out, but it’s made even better by also laying the groundwork for the upcoming Infinity Castle movie.

Muzan, usually so powerful, is unexpectedly weakened and trapped. Surrounded by the Hashiras and Tanjiro, he seems cornered, but the situation quickly shifts in his favor. He manages to pull everyone into the dangerous Infinity Castle, a massive and deadly arena. No Matter How Many Lives (Season 2, Part 2, Episode 11)

After the intense fighting in the Entertainment District Arc, the ending offers a bittersweet and comforting look at what fans love about Demon Slayer. Tanjiro and his friends are exhausted but relieved to have defeated the Upper Moon demons. However, Tanjiro can’t quite rest and searches for their heads, discovering the dissolving demons still consumed by hatred for each other.

The flashback also creates a connection between Tanjiro and Nezuko, and Daki and Gyutaro, making viewers question what could have been. Never Give Up (Season 2, Part 2, Episode 10)

Many fans consider the Entertainment District Arc the best season of Demon Slayer, and it’s easy to see why. In this episode, Tanjiro is completely exhausted but still faces a relentless Gyutaro, who taunts him while Tanjiro’s allies are in danger. Tanjiro pretends to retreat, cleverly using a kunai to poison Gyutaro, then seizes the chance to behead him. At the same time, Zenitsu launches a sudden attack on Daki, trying to defeat her as well.

Despite being poisoned, the demon wasn’t defeated and quickly retaliated, putting Tanjiro in danger once more. Just in time, Uzui returned to the fight, launching into a spectacular battle with Gyutaro. Working together, they finally managed to sever the heads of both demon siblings, seemingly ending the exhausting fight. However, Gyutaro’s body began to explode, leaving viewers in suspense about the heroes’ survival. The episode closes with a fading Tanjiro, unsure if they had truly won.

Set Your Heart Ablaze (Season 2, Part 1, Episode 7)

The Mugen Train Arc concludes with a powerfully moving and hopeful ending. The final battle between Rengoku and Akaza is particularly impactful, showcasing Rengoku’s unwavering dedication even when severely injured and pushed beyond his limits. This resilience both surprises and impresses Akaza, strengthening his desire to make Rengoku a demon.

Rengoku puts all his power into one final attack, using his most powerful technique. However, Akaza quickly heals from the damage, while Rengoku suffers a fatal wound. As he nears death, Rengoku remembers his mother, a memory that highlights his belief that strong individuals must protect the vulnerable. This poignant moment gives fans deeper insight into his character. Even while dying, Rengoku’s strength and determination are inspiring. He fights to hold Akaza down until sunrise, hoping to defeat him, but Akaza ultimately breaks free and escapes.

The second half of the episode is a slower, emotionally-focused segment. Rengoku spends his remaining time offering encouragement and kindness to the young demon slayers around him. There aren’t any big action moments – instead, the episode aims to create a strong emotional connection with viewers through genuine sincerity. Ultimately, Rengoku sees a vision of his mother and dies peacefully with a smile. His death deeply impacts Tanjiro and other characters, motivating them in future storylines.

Hinokami (Season 1, Episode 19)

It’s no surprise this episode is considered a standout. It’s when Demon Slayer really proved itself as one of the best anime of recent years. While battling dangers on Mount Natagumo, Tanjiro faced a powerful member of the Twelve Kizuki for the very first time. He was quickly defeated, despite all his training. As he lay close to death, a flood of memories rushed through his mind.

It’s incredible! Seeing memories of his father flooded back, Tanjiro was able to perform the Hinokami Kagura Dance – it’s this amazing, powerful technique that let him get close enough to strike a decisive blow against Rui. But it’s a risky move, because he could get seriously hurt too! At the same time, Nezuko was also reliving memories, this time of her mother desperately trying to wake her up so she could help her brother. Those memories unlocked something within her, letting her use Blood Demon Art: Exploding Blood, and it actually shielded Tanjiro from harm. It was such a pivotal moment!

This scene is flawlessly done. The stunning animation paired with the gorgeous music makes it the standout episode of Demon Slayer so far. It’s also the first time viewers see Tanjiro and Nezuko fighting side-by-side, hinting at even more impressive teamwork to come.
