Borderlands 4 Community Challenge Gives Players a Chance to Earn New Vault Hunter Skin

Gearbox has launched a new event for Borderlands 3, letting players earn a special skin for all four playable characters over the next few days. This is a team effort – players will need to work together to unlock the skin, and it’s possible they won’t be able to get it if they don’t reach the goal.

Since Borderlands 4 launched in September 2025, Gearbox has been regularly giving players new outfits for their characters. These outfits are distributed through SHiFT codes, which players need to enter into the game to claim them. SHiFT codes also provide Golden Keys, used to unlock free items. Gearbox has been very generous with these codes for Borderlands 4, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be stopping anytime soon.

Borderlands 4 Community Challenge Could Reward a New Vault Hunter SHiFT Code

I just saw that Gearbox launched a new community challenge for Borderlands 4 on X! Basically, we all need to work together and revive each other 500,000 times in co-op mode by February 16th. If we pull it off, they’re promising a new SHiFT code for a cool Vault Hunter skin called “You’re So Vein” – and it works for all four characters! You can participate on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, so let’s get reviving!

If the community goal for Borderlands 4 is met, players can get the new SHiFT code by visiting the SHiFT website. You’ll need to connect your gaming account to your SHiFT account to use the code, both on the website and in the game. Redeeming SHiFT codes is simple, and there shouldn’t be a huge rush to get the “You’re So Vein” Vault Hunter skin when it comes out. Like most Borderlands 4 cosmetic codes, it will probably be usable until the end of 2030.

Borderlands 4 lets players heavily customize how their characters look with a wide variety of cosmetic items. Like past Borderlands games, you unlock new heads and skins – it’s not a detailed character creation system. This approach has always worked well for the series, and fans generally don’t want Gearbox to change it.

While fewer people are playing Borderlands 4 now compared to when it launched last year, Gearbox has several plans to bring players back. They’ve announced a roadmap through 2026 with multiple paid expansions, starting with a new playable character. Unfortunately, the Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4 has been cancelled, which will disappoint fans hoping to play it on that console.
