How to Refuel Trucks in Foxhole

Like most things in Foxhole, the game doesn’t directly teach you how to refuel vehicles. Learning this skill is important for players who want to help with logistics – getting supplies and equipment to the front lines by truck. There are several ways to refuel in Foxhole, and this guide will cover them all. The process is the same whether you’re playing as a Colonial or a Warden.

Like everything else in Foxhole, fuel is produced, stored, and transported by real players.

Refueling With A Fuel Can In Foxhole

In the game Foxhole, using a fuel can is the usual way to refill vehicles, and it’s essential when a vehicle is stuck or far from a refueling station. Once you’ve built or retrieved a truck, you should have enough fuel to either move it to a safe spot or get it to a fuel source.

Locate a fuel can – either a container for liquids or a base – and add it to your inventory. For trucks and other vehicles, you’ll need either Diesel or Petrol.

  • Click on the fuel can in your own backpack (Tab) to put it in the third slot.
  • Press 3 to equip the fuel can.
  • Hold LMB next to the vehicle.

While holding, it will say “Refueling: 40/100L“, for example.

You can always check how much fuel your vehicle has in two places: a progress bar at the top left of your screen while driving, and in the vehicle’s inventory, which is located at the top right.

How To Switch Fuel Type & Remove Fuel From Vehicles In Foxhole

Players might try filling a truck with gasoline using these methods, but will receive a message stating that the truck doesn’t accept gasoline as fuel.

Okay, so if you want to switch up the fuel in your vehicle, it’s actually pretty easy. Just hit ‘E’ to bring up the vehicle’s inventory, and then look for the ‘Change Fuel Icon’ button at the bottom of the screen – it looks like a fuel can with two arrows pointing clockwise. Click that, and it’ll automatically drain the old fuel, ready for you to fill it up with something new!

Gasoline-powered cars will offer more powerful engine performance, resulting in a 10% speed increase and quicker acceleration. However, diesel fuel is less expensive to manufacture.

This technique also works when you need to drain fuel from a vehicle. For instance, it’s helpful to do this before storing a truck, which saves fuel. Sometimes, you might not have any fuel on hand, so you can take it from vehicles you aren’t currently using.

Refueling From Liquid Containers In Foxhole

To fill up your vehicle with liquid fuel, drive alongside the fuel container and exit your vehicle. Open your vehicle’s inventory by pressing the ‘E’ key, then click the ‘Refuel’ button located in the top right corner. It looks like a plus sign inside a fuel can icon.

If the container is filled with the right fuel, a pipe will connect it to your vehicle and start refueling. You can stop the process by driving away.

Liquid containers can be recolored by players, and all being well, they should follow this pattern:

  • Diesel: Yellow
  • Petrol: Dark Blue/Looks Grey
  • Heavy Oil: Red
  • Enriched Oil: Green
  • Water: Light Blue
  • Oil: Brown
  • Empty: Grey/White

You can check what’s inside the liquid container, but keep in mind that this color pattern isn’t guaranteed to happen every time.

Refueling From Fuel Tankers In Foxhole

Fuel tankers are vehicles equipped with tanks for carrying fuel. They aren’t typically used for routine refueling, like supporting regular truck-based logistics. Instead, they’re more often seen accompanying groups of tanks, replenishing their fuel, or operating at airfields where it’s simpler to bring fuel to the aircraft rather than moving the planes.

Fuel tankers and fire trucks can be easily mistaken for each other, so it’s important to tell them apart. Both the Wardens and the Colonials use uniquely designed fuel tankers.

Using a fuel tanker is easy. Just pull up next to it and refuel like you would with any other liquid container – it’s basically a container on wheels!
