As a seasoned veteran of the Underworld and a dedicated fan of Hades, I can wholeheartedly say that the Olympic Update has been nothing short of a divine revelation! The new Olympus zone is an absolute game-changer, with its god-like content and tantalizing challenges that have me hooked.
In a significant overhaul for Hades 2 since its Early Access debut, the Olympic Update introduces a vast array of fresh content into the game. This includes major expansions such as introducing new Deities and new Boons, along with smaller enhancements like the revamped Crossroads Renovation system. The most significant addition to Hades 2, and the inspiration behind the update, is the introduction of a brand-new zone – Olympus.
Discover the mythical abode of gods on Mount Olympus, once off-limits for players past a certain level – but now accessible! Dive into this guide to learn about all the exciting new features you can explore in Olympus, and uncover the secrets on how to gain entrance to Olympus within the game Hades 2.
Hades 2 Olympus Zone Overview
Enemies, Locations, Special Features, & Bosses
If you’d prefer not to be spoiled about the new Olympic Update content in Hades 2, feel free to skip over this part instead, and find out how to access Olympus and explore its brand-new features on your own.
Upon entering the fresh zone in Olympus, you’ll immediately spot a completely novel type of adversary: Automatons. These mechanical defenders are tasked with safeguarding Olympus against aggressors such as Chronos’ troops. Intriguingly, these Automatons have turned against Melinoë, forcing her to fight her way past them in her quest up Mount Olympus.
There are a total of two distinctive mini-bosses hidden within Olympus. Each comes equipped with an exclusive set of abilities unlike any other boss in the game, necessitating varied tactics for their defeat.
Towards the conclusion of the Olympus zone, you’ll face a character who was previously alluded to in different sections of Hades 2. This character now serves as the final adversary of the Olympus zone. This formidable Titan is a challenging battle if you’re not ready for a boss mechanic that demands careful pattern recognition and skillful maneuvering to dodge wide-ranging areas of effect, courtesy of Melinoë.
In the grand expanse of Olympus, you might come across two fresh additions to the team, which were subtly revealed in the Hades 2 Olympic Update trailer and documentation. Additionally, there are two new Companions that can join your ranks, although they’re not exclusively tied to Olympus. These new Companions can be found in various locations, not just within Olympus. They can be discovered in the Underworld as well as on the Surface.
Speaking of notable enhancements, you’ll discover not just one but two old deities making a comeback upon reaching Olympus. These two gods maintain the majority of their powers, albeit with tweaked mechanisms, so they should seem quite familiar if you’ve played the first game.
How To Get To Olympus In Hades 2
To reach Olympus, you should follow the ground-level path when departing from the Crossroads and journey through two zones: Ephyrea, the initial region, and then The Rift of Thessaly, the subsequent zone. At the conclusion of The Rift of Thessaly, you’ll come across Eris, a formidable boss that stands in your path.
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the Olympic Update for Hades 2. Before then, Olympus seemed like an unattainable paradise beyond this epic boss fight. We could almost touch the end of the underworld route during Early Access, but the surface route was off-limits in those initial months.
After successfully vanquishing Eris within Hades 2, you’ll gain the ability to advance further and access the Olympus zone, marking the third zone on the Surface path. This zone, upon defeating its concluding boss, will temporarily halt your progression to the final area of the Surface route. It is expected that this limitation will be lifted with a future update in Early Access.
It seems they’re planning for the terrain to be divided into four areas, emulating the layout of the Underworld path. However, it’s possible that there could be more zones, or even an additional final zone upon completion of both halves, providing players with lots of exciting content as we move forward in Early Access.
