In No Man’s Sky, crafting and upgrading are key, and you’ll need lots of different resources. Dioxite is one of these – you can use it to create items like Thermic Layers and Thermal Buffers, or simpler things like Grantine and Frost Crystals. Sometimes, it can even power up certain equipment. This guide will explain where to find Dioxite and how to make more of it yourself.
How To Get Dioxite In No Man’s Sky
You can obtain Dioxite through several methods: mining it directly, buying it from others, or creating it by refining other elements.
Finding Dioxite Deposits
To get pure Dioxite, you’ll need to find a Dioxite Deposit. Start by searching for cold or frozen planets. While flying your ship towards a planet, press the ‘C’ key to scan it. If the planet has Dioxite, it will appear in the scan results. You may need to travel to a different star system to locate one.
Once on the planet, use your Analysis Visor (F) to scan for deposits.
In No Man’s Sky, if you own a Corvette-class ship, you can scan planets and other discoveries directly from the ship without having to land first.
Once you’ve located a Dioxite Deposit, use the G key to switch to the Terrain Manipulator and mine it. You can also find small amounts of Dioxite by scanning common minerals with your Analysis Visor.
Refining Dioxite
Players can create Dioxite by using a Refiner. This machine needs at least two different resources to work, and it runs on Carbon fuel. While most refining processes only create one Dioxite at a time, using Condensed Carbon as an ingredient will produce a larger amount.
| Input | Dioxite Output |
|---|---|
| 1 Condensed Carbon + 1 Sodium Nitrate | 2 |
| 1 Carbon + 1 Sodium Nitrate | 1 |
| 2 Frost Crystal + 1 Salt | 1 |
| 2 Ammonia + 1 Ferrite Dust | 1 |
| 2 Ammonia + 1 Pure Ferrite | 1 |
Besides standard refining, tools like the Personal Refiner let you refine materials while you’re traveling. You can also refine Dioxite to create valuable new resources like Frost Crystals and Grantine.
Dioxite Can Be Bought From Galactic Trade Terminals
Okay, so I’ve figured out where to snag Dioxite! You can find these Galactic Trade Terminals at Space Stations. Sometimes they’ll actually sell Dioxite for Units, which is awesome. They’re always on the lower level of the station, right underneath where you buy all your ship upgrades. Look for it – it’s directly across from that big teleporter, so you can’t miss it!
- Dioxite’s base value is 84 Units.
If you can’t locate Dioxite at a Space Station, expand your search to other solar systems. You can also attempt to trade with passing ship captains who visit Space Stations or land on planets, though they may not carry what you’re looking for.
You can also obtain Dioxite by breaking down a Cold Thermal Protection Upgrade. This will reward you with 50 Dioxite and a Wiring Loom. Remember, Dioxite is needed to both create and power this upgrade.
