How MapleStory Worlds’ Social Features Make It Stand Out

How MapleStory Worlds' Social Features Make It Stand Out

As a seasoned gamer who grew up with the legendary 2D MMORPG, MapleStory, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia and excitement when I hear about MapleStory Worlds. This content creation platform is like a dream come true for many of us who have spent countless hours exploring MapleWorld.

The MapleStory Worlds platform allows for content creation, inspired by the classic 2D MMORPG that many modern game developers might have grown up enjoying. As the original MapleStory player base has grown older, Nexon now offers them the means to develop their own worlds, whether these are continuations of the “MapleStory Classic” or entirely new genres.

In a conversation with Game Rant, Dennis Bernardo (senior producer of MapleStory Worlds) highlighted the distinctiveness of this platform compared to modern content creation tools. He emphasized the special social aspects found within MapleStory Worlds, allowing players to create their personal “MapleStory studios.” Furthermore, he mentioned that users are given access to a vast array of resources, totaling tens of millions, which can be customized using a wide range of editing tools.

MapleStory Worlds’ Creator Groups Are Like Indie Game Studios

Among the various aspects that MapleStory Worlds offers, Bernardo found it noteworthy to emphasize its social features. In this virtual world, users can establish creator teams, essentially functioning as independent game studios within MapleStory Worlds. These teams provide a platform where multiple individuals can collaborate on a project simultaneously. Remarkably, all contributions can be made remotely, mimicking the structure of a remote work-from-home studio, making MapleStory Worlds an appealing choice for groups of friends or classmates tackling a shared task.

The setup resembles a professional development studio’s environment, but it also fosters a community among players. We’re aiming for this and dedicating our efforts during the global soft launch towards creating platforms where players can establish their own communities on our Discord, website, live streams, etc. This will enable them to connect with one another, identify shared objectives, and collaborate on games, worlds, and experiences they wish to create together.

In addition to social features within the Nexon platform, they are also dedicated to connecting users beyond the realm of MapleStory Worlds. Their Discord server and website serve as meeting points for players with shared interests, enabling them to connect, form communities, or share advice and ideas. The robust sense of camaraderie and collaboration fostered by the MapleStory Worlds team is instrumental in bringing about projects that might not have been realized otherwise.

MapleStory Worlds Provides 30 Million Assets

Additionally, Bernardo mentioned that the MapleStory Worlds have been enriched by two decades of content from MapleStory, featuring over 30 million assets ready to be incorporated into projects with the intuitive Design mode. The resources from MapleStory span a vast array: everything from various floor textures, an MMO’s collection of creature and character sprites, backgrounds, weapons, icons, and more – all of which are customizable, adjustable in size, and able to be recolored.

Beyond that, the 30 million assets we offer for MapleStory significantly enhances its user-friendliness and simplicity, allowing players to dive in effortlessly, particularly with our design mode. With it, you simply drag and drop items without needing any coding knowledge, resembling other popular and easy-to-grasp content creation platforms.

Platforms such as RPG Maker or Roblox have given content creators the ability to bring forth innovative concepts, and it appears that MapleStory Worlds is set to nurture a new wave of creative projects that could push boundaries even further. Bernardo predicts that users will develop shooter games, tower defense games, as well as undoubtedly many unexpected ideas using the assets provided by MapleStory.

MapleStory Worlds is available now in North America and South America for PC.
