One Piece: It’s Time To Say Goodbye To The Monster Trio Forever

This post contains spoilers for One Piece.

The story of One Piece is heading towards a major turning point, and all fans are watching closely to see what creator Eiichiro Oda will do next. Everyone is especially curious about how the Elbaf arc will end. Oda has already published over 40 chapters of this arc, and most of them have been fantastic, revealing details about current characters as well as legendary figures from the past.

Although many characters are compelling, Prince Loki consistently stands out as the most fascinating to fans. From the moment he appeared, viewers were captivated and eager to discover his history and abilities, and the author thankfully delivered on that interest.

Loki Is The Hero Who Saved Elbaf

  • Loki was forced to kill his own father
  • Loki took the entire blame to protect Harald’s legacy

At first, Loki was introduced as the man who killed Harald, the highly respected king of Elbaf. The story claimed this murder happened in Aurest Castle many years ago, painting Loki as a villain deserving of Elbaf’s hatred, especially since Harald was considered their greatest ruler. However, many fans suspected there was more to the story, and those suspicions were confirmed when a flashback revealed the truth about what actually happened in Aurest Castle on that day.

Don’t speak a word of what happened here today!!

Loki was compelled to kill Harald to protect Elbaf. Harald had been manipulated by Imu and the Five Elders, who falsely led him to believe the Giants’ past misdeeds could be overlooked. Acting on Imu’s instructions, the Five Elders convinced Harald to carry out their plans. He believed them and began following their orders, eventually receiving the Depths Covenant. Harald then returned to Elbaf, unaware he’d been tricked. By the time he discovered the deception, it was too late – the Depths Covenant forced complete obedience to Imu, leaving him no choice but to comply.

Worried about turmoil in Elbaf, Harald immediately called for Loki and Jarul. The King asked his son to eat a powerful, mythical Devil Fruit and then use its abilities to end his own life. Loki was shocked, but understood he had no other option. After briefly fighting Ragnir, Loki ate the fruit and returned to his father. Though hesitant, Loki was convinced by Harald that it was necessary. With great sadness, Loki fulfilled his father’s request, killing Harald and securing the future of Elbaf.

Loki Will Join The Straw Hat Pirates

Loki’s Addition Will Destroy The Dynamic Of The Monster Trio

Many fans were surprised by the hardships Loki faced in his backstory. Things are looking up for him now, though. While Loki previously declined Luffy’s invitation to join the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy isn’t giving up. He often persistently asks people to join his crew, and it’s worked before! Luffy will probably wait until the fight in Elbaf is over before asking Loki again, giving him time to consider joining.

If Loki joins the crew, it would likely mean the end of Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy as the series’ core power trio. Because Loki is more powerful than Zoro and Sanji, he’d take their place, effectively disbanding the group. The only way to prevent this is for Zoro and Sanji to become significantly stronger, but it doesn’t seem like the author will give them those boosts right away. Another possibility is that Loki could fill a similar role to Oden, who sailed with Roger for a long time. Even though Oden was strong, Rayleigh and Gaban remained important figures on the Roger Pirates despite being more powerful than him.

Right now, the biggest threats are Imu (who is hidden inside Gunko’s body), Shepherd Sommers, and Killingham. These three are incredibly powerful fighters, each capable of defeating entire armies. What makes them even more dangerous is their immortality and ability to quickly heal from almost any injury. However, Scopper Gaban has revealed a weakness: their regeneration can be stopped using Conqueror’s Haki. Fortunately, Luffy, Zoro, Loki, and Gaban all possess this rare ability.

The Battle For Elbaf Rages On

Everyone is already familiar with how strong Luffy, Zoro, and Gaban are, so now all attention is turning to Loki and what he can do. He’s proven to be incredibly powerful, having defeated Harald, who was made even stronger by the Depths Covenant. This victory suggests Loki would easily defeat any Holy Knight. While his weapon, Ragnir, is impressive, Loki’s true strength likely comes from his Devil Fruit, which is sure to be exceptionally powerful, though its exact nature is currently unknown. Beyond Luffy’s crew, there are also other strong individuals on Elbaf who could play a key role in achieving victory.

Sanji immediately comes to mind as someone who could be a big help. He’s saved the Straw Hats from tough spots many times before, so it’s likely he’d step up again. Even though he doesn’t possess Conqueror’s Haki, he’s a remarkably skilled fighter who can definitely handle himself.

Brook Is Going To Play An Important Role In Elbaf

Besides Sanji, the author, Oda, appears to have significant plans for Brook, especially considering his connection to Gunko’s history. Recently, Brook seemed to recognize Gunko, repeatedly calling her Princess Shuri. While this didn’t initially have an impact, there was a brief moment when Gunko lost control of her body, allowing Brook to escape. Unfortunately, Imu quickly regained control and resumed attacking Brook.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how the Holy Knights react now that their ship is gone. Without it, they can’t take the children from Elbaf. They’ll either need to find a new ship or attempt to completely destroy Elbaf. Since Imu has already identified Elbaf as connected to the ‘D’ clan, they wouldn’t hesitate to wipe the country off the map.
