As the story of One Piece nears its conclusion, Conqueror’s Haki is proving to be incredibly important. The author, Oda, has introduced powerful new characters like the Holy Knights, and figures such as the Five Elders and the World Sovereign, Imu, are also taking action. What makes these characters unique – and vulnerable – is that Conqueror’s Haki appears to be their primary weakness.
The highest-ranking members of the World Government, like the Celestial Dragons, are incredibly difficult to defeat because they can regenerate from injuries. Essentially, they can’t be beaten by ordinary attacks – you need attacks infused with Conqueror’s Haki to truly harm them. This is why the story of One Piece seems to be setting up more characters to gain this powerful ability, with hints that three more members of the Straw Hat crew will soon be able to use Conqueror’s Haki.
The Straw Hat Pirates Need More Conqueror’s Haki Users
Only Two Members Of The Crew Can Use Conqueror’s Haki Right Now
The Straw Hat pirates are on a direct collision course with the World Government in the final part of the One Piece story, as confirmed by the author, Oda. This conflict began in the Egghead arc, where the Straw Hats first faced off against the Government’s forces. The Five Elders arrived on the island, desperately trying to eliminate Vegapunk before he could share his message. Although a full-scale battle against the Elders didn’t happen on Egghead, the Straw Hats clearly had a difficult time fighting them due to their ability to regenerate and their seeming immortality.
The next major storyline focuses on the Holy Land of Marijoa and the Celestial Dragons once more. This time, the primary threats are the Holy Knights – Saint Somers, Saint Killingham, and Gunko, who is controlled by Imu. These Knights are incredibly powerful opponents, possessing strong Devil Fruit abilities and Haki, and they are effectively immortal, making them very difficult to defeat, even for skilled fighters like Nico Robin. As established earlier with Scopper Gabban, defeating them requires the use of Conqueror’s Haki.
Currently, only Luffy and Zoro in the Straw Hat Pirates can use Conqueror’s Haki. Luffy learned to control it during the time skip, but Zoro only recently discovered he even had this power. Because Zoro is still new to using it, the Straw Hats really need to find more crew members who can also utilize Conqueror’s Haki. It looks like the author, Oda, is already building towards Sanji, Usopp, and Nami potentially gaining this ability in the final part of the One Piece story.
According to Scopper Gaban, the immortals’ only vulnerability lies in those who can reinforce their attacks with Supreme King Haki.
Sanji Awakening Conqueror’s Haki Is A Guarantee
The Next Supreme King Haki Users In The Straw Hats
It’s highly likely Sanji will unlock Conqueror’s Haki soon. He already skillfully uses two other types of Haki and is a key fighter for the Straw Hat Pirates. Considering his role mirrors that of Scopper Gaban, and that all members of the Monster Trio (like Roger’s crew) possessed Conqueror’s Haki, it’s reasonable to expect Sanji to develop it too. It’s probably just a matter of time before he masters this powerful ability and uses it against the Holy Knights and the Demon Army currently threatening Elbaf.
If Sanji masters Conqueror’s Haki, he’ll gain the ability to defeat enemies who can regenerate or are immortal. This, combined with a significant boost to his attack power, would make him an incredibly powerful pirate.
Usopp Has Been Hinted To Gain Conqueror’s Haki
Sanji isn’t the only member of the Straw Hat Pirates who might develop Conqueror’s Haki; Usopp also has the potential. Throughout the story, Usopp often exaggerates or lies about things that later turn out to be true. He first claimed to have Conqueror’s Haki during the Dressrosa arc, and repeated this claim in the Wano Country arc, even saying his Haki was powerful enough to shake Onigashima Castle. This connects to his parallels with the legendary warrior Noland the Liar.
Usopp aspires to be a brave warrior like those from Elbaf, and developing Conqueror’s Haki would be a fantastic way to demonstrate his growing courage and determination. Although Sanji is more likely to awaken this powerful ability, Usopp definitely has a chance and should be considered a contender.
Nami Could Also Awaken Conqueror’s Haki
Many fans were surprised when certain Straw Hat pirates awakened Conqueror’s Haki, and Nami might be next. Although it seems unexpected, the author, Oda, has hinted at this possibility in the story. For example, during the final stages of the Wano Country arc, Nami briefly seemed to harm Luffy, even though his body is rubber. She also briefly displayed a similar energy to Conqueror’s Haki alongside Jinbei and Chopper. While initially presented as a joke, Oda often develops humorous moments into significant plot developments.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Nami developed Conqueror’s Haki, considering her secretive and important family background – a background so significant that the creator, Oda, kept it hidden in the movie One Piece: Strong World. If she did, all five members of the East Blue crew would possess this powerful ability, which would be a fitting and satisfying development as the One Piece story comes to a close.
If five members of the Straw Hat Pirates develop Conqueror’s Haki, they’ll be well-prepared to confront powerful enemies like the Holy Knights and even the Five Elders. The Elbaf Arc will likely be key to this development, potentially offering early signs of this ability. By the time the final war begins, the Straw Hats will urgently need more crew members with Conqueror’s Haki, and Sanji, Usopp, and Nami are strong candidates to achieve it.
