On February 28th, Xbox Game Pass will remove four games, including the popular Injustice 2. This brings the total number of games leaving the Game Pass library in February to five.
Xbox Game Pass usually removes several games every two weeks. However, this time only one game, Madden NFL 24, will be leaving the service on February 15th. Microsoft recently updated the list of games departing soon on the Xbox Game Pass website, as they typically do before removing titles.

Several games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on February 28th, including Injustice 2, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, Monster Train, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Of these, Injustice 2 is considered the biggest loss due to its high score of 87 on OpenCritic. Expeditions: A MudRunner Game offers the most playtime, with players estimating it takes over 100 hours to finish.

The games leaving Xbox Game Pass on February 28th have mostly been available for a long time. The newest addition, Monster Train, joined in early March 2025 and is leaving just before its first anniversary. In contrast, Middle-earth: Shadow of War has been part of the service since July 2019. Interestingly, the studio that made Shadow of War, Monolith Productions, recently closed in February 2025. Its publisher, Warner Bros. Discovery, is also in talks with Netflix to potentially sell its studios, but that deal isn’t finalized yet. Because of these changes, it doesn’t look like Middle-earth: Shadow of War will be returning to Xbox Game Pass, or any other subscription service, anytime soon.

The Xbox Game Pass website usually gives a good idea of which games are leaving the service soon, though it’s not always 100% correct. We expect the official list of games leaving on February 28th to be announced with the next batch of games coming to Game Pass, likely next Tuesday, February 17th. That’s also when Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be added to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Currently, Xbox Game Pass will lose five games in February 2026. However, February is still a great month for the service, as 13 games have already been added, and more are on the way. Looking ahead to March 2026, several games are confirmed to be coming soon. First up is the puzzle platformer Planet of Lana 2 on March 5, followed by the cyberpunk action platformer Replaced on March 12. Then, on March 26, players can look forward to Nova Roma, a beautiful city-building game. The full lineups for the first and second waves of March games are expected to be revealed on March 3 and March 17, respectively.
