How to Get Prestige in Hades 2

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent in the underworld of Hades, I must say that the introduction of the Olympic Update and its new construction mechanic in Hades 2 has truly taken my gaming experience to a whole new level! The ability to farm for Prestige by getting rid of those pesky Nightshade plants is a godsend – who knew that weeding could be so profitable?

As an avid fan, I’m thrilled about the latest update in Olympic, which has brought a fresh and exciting customization feature to Hades 2. This new mechanic allows me, as the player, to tailor the Crossroads according to my preferences, much like the House Contractor mechanic from the original Hades. The key figure for these projects is none other than Dora, who oversees all available renovations. To finance these upgrades, I’ll be utilizing a new resource called Prestige, which functions similarly to the original game’s Gems. The process of acquiring Prestige, though, is slightly altered from what Hades players may be accustomed to.

In the sequel, Hades 2 introduces a fresh currency type called ‘Prestige’. Although similar to Hades’ original ‘Gems’, there are notable differences that make the construction process more efficient in Hades 2. This guide will walk players through how to acquire ‘Prestige’, the optimal methods for farming it, and what you can do with it once obtained.

To start gathering Prestige in the upcoming game, Hades 2, players must initially unlock and finish one of the new spells introduced in the Olympic Update. The spell that needs to be mastered is called “Earthly Fortune”. Here’s the recipe for Earthly Fortune:

Returning players who have made significant progress should find this incantation available at the Cauldron as soon as they download the Olympic Update. It is currently unknown if the Earthly Fortune incantation will be made available to new players. As soon as that information is discovered, it will be included here.

Once the Earthly Fortune spell is cast, you’ll get a modest amount of Reputation that you can use. However, it would be wise to consult the Shady Merchant at the Crossways to understand how this Reputation system functions.

Interacting with the broker will now reveal an icon at the end of the menu tabs, resembling a recycling symbol. This is the new Prestige section, where you can now exchange your excess items for Prestige.

How to Farm Prestige in Hades 2:

In Hades 2, though the concept of farming resources in a traditional sense doesn’t fit here, players have the chance to essentially accumulate more Prestige. Notably, certain items offer quick methods to amass Prestige swiftly. The values assigned to these Prestige for different items can differ significantly, but some items provide an easier route to earn Prestige quickly.

In the game Hades 2, Nightshade plants are quite simple to cultivate since their seeds originate from Erebus. Reoccurring players might have a plentiful supply of Nightshade seeds. Although they aren’t as precious as Thalamus or Plasma, they are much simpler to save and farm. Each Nightshade is worth 44 Prestige points, and it’s likely that you won’t need them at all once you’ve completed all the Incantations in Hades 2. Consequently, you can consider exchanging them whenever convenient.

It seems that the enigmatic Trader exclusively trades goods you no longer require for a status symbol called Prestige. Although this isn’t definitively known, not all your items can be exchanged. Be mindful when dealing with exceptionally rare items such as Plasma, as it’s simpler to acquire Prestige through alternative means than relying on chance in the Chaos realm.

How to Use Prestige in Hades 2

Upon coming back from your first run following the latest Olympic Update, you’ll probably spot that Dora has one of the bigger interaction indicators over her head. Engaging with her when this symbol appears will provide information about the new building mechanic in Hades 2. This mechanic allows Dora to perform actions, such as running, within the game.

Dora can now be found in three locations at the Crossroads:

  • Melinoe’s Tent: same location as usual.
  • Cauldron: Dora can be found just south of the Cauldron
  • Silver Pool: Dora can now be found in the lower area of the Silver Pool, past the Gathering Tools and Pets. Look at the top of the steps that overlook the swamp, and you’ll find her.

Begin Construction:

In every location you find Dora, you’ll discover a distinct set of potential construction tasks. At her regular spot, you can arrange improvements for Melinoe’s tent. By her side near the Cauldron, Mel can refresh the environment in the central chamber for many Crossroads dwellers. If you meet her by the Silver Pool, you can currently upgrade the Skelly’s Dais.

On numerous construction tasks you’ll take on, you’ll often need resources beyond just Prestige. If you aim to build everything at your disposal, it would be beneficial to cultivate a practice of gathering as many resources as possible. Notably, Boss items are frequently required, with Wool being particularly important, which can only be obtained from Polyphemus the Cyclops, who serves as the Guardian of Ephyra, the City.

It’s quite possible that the current phase of the Crossroads construction project is just the first step. Drawing inspiration from Hades, Supergiant is likely to expand the project further as Hades 2 moves forward in its Early Access stage.
