Battlefield 6 Season 2 Start Date & Time

Season 1 of Battlefield 6 has been quite lengthy, even extending beyond its initial end date of January 20th. It introduced new maps like Eastwood, iconic weapons such as the Mini Fix Sniper, and the long-awaited RedSec Battle Royale mode for Battlefield. Despite the gaps between content drops, Season 1 was a solid beginning for the game.

Season 1 is ending soon, and many players are curious about the release of Season 2. Fortunately, Battlefield Studios has announced the release date and details in a new blog post. Here’s a summary of when you can expect Season 2 and what new content it will include.

Battlefield 6 Season 2 Launch Content Overview (Feb 17)

Contaminated Map & VL-7 Strike LTM

When the game launches, players will immediately gain access to the new Contaminated map. This map—originally previewed back in January through Portal—is set in a German airbase and is large enough to accommodate squads of any size. You’ll be able to use ground vehicles and helicopters here, but jets won’t be available.

A new limited-time mode, VL-7 Strike, is available at launch, and it’s playable on the new Contaminated Map. This mode features various game types with a unique challenge: areas of the map will be filled with gas that can cause hallucinations. Players can protect themselves by finding and equipping Gas Masks and filters scattered around the map.

RedSec Content & LTMs

RedSec is getting fresh content in Season 2, including two new limited-time modes (LTMs). One is a modified version of Gauntlet called “Altered State,” which keeps the original’s gameplay but adds the VL-7 Strike Gas from the Contaminated mode. Players will complete missions as usual, but now they’ll also need to find equipment to protect themselves from the gas.

The second limited-time mode is Battle Royale Synthesis. It’s similar to the RedSec Battle Royale mode, but with the addition of VL-7 Strike Gas. Like before, certain areas will be filled with this gas, meaning players will need special equipment to survive, but those areas will also have better loot. Plus, players can find a VL-7 Strike Package as loot, which lets them release the gas in a specific location.

Global Content (New Weapons, Scout Helicopter, & More)

Battlefield Studios recently revealed new content for both Battlefield 6 and RedSec. Highlights include three new weapons – the GRT-CPS Marksman Rifle, VCR-2 Assault Rifle, and M121 A2 LMG – all available through the Season 2 Battle Pass. Players can also unlock the 9K38 IGLA Launcher for the Engineer class, a lock-on weapon that can reacquire targets even after losing them. Finally, the HTI-MK2, a gadget-countering item, is coming to the Recon Class.

We’re adding more content with the return of the Scout Helicopter, which will be available on maps that support helicopters in both Battlefield 6 and RedSec. Plus, we’re introducing Catchup Challenges, letting you unlock weapons you missed in the Season 1 Battle Pass. Finally, don’t miss the Year of the Horse Challenges, a limited-time event from February 17th to March 3rd, where you can earn free, themed rewards.

Season 2 Phase 2: Nightfall Content Overview (March 17)

Hagental Base Map & Nightfall LTM

The Phase 2: Nightfall update arrives on March 17th, bringing with it the new Hagental Base map. This map is designed for intense, close-quarters infantry combat and draws inspiration from the Metro and Locker maps in Battlefield 3. It’s set inside a dimly lit underground base.

Okay, so they’re dropping a new limited-time mode called Nightfall, and it’s seriously cool. It’s on the Hagental Base map, but everything is pitch black! Luckily, we get Night Vision Goggles to help us see, but I’m already thinking Thermal Sights and Flashlights are going to be super popular attachments for certain guns – definitely a big part of the strategy.

Excited about the Nightfall limited-time mode? RedSec’s Gauntlet also features a Nightfall experience, taking place on Hagental Base. It uses the same core Gauntlet rules, but with a twist: you’ll need night vision goggles and other gear to see in the dark. Squads are smaller, and only specific operation challenges are active.

The Nightfall update introduces a new location to the Fort Lyndon Battle Royale map. Testing Complex 3 is an underground area where players can find better and rarer loot.

Global Content (New Weapons, Dirt Bike, & More)

On March 17th, two new weapons—the CZ3A1 SMG and the VZ.61 Machine Pistol—will be added to the game. You can unlock both by progressing through the Battle Pass. To customize your loadout, new attachments are also coming, including a versatile thermal/red dot optic and a combined laser/flashlight underbarrel, ideal for the Nightfall limited-time mode.

With Phase 3, the Dirt Bike is now the quickest ground vehicle in both Battlefield 6 and RedSec.

Season 2 Phase 3: Hunter / Prey (April 14)

The final update for Season 2 will be a smaller release, and it includes the Operation Augur limited-time mode. Details about Operation Augur are still coming soon. Here’s what else players can expect:

  • LTV Vehicle
  • KAPOK 14” Machete Melee Weapon
  • Battle Royale Duos
  • Escalation experiences Portal Support
