Steam Adds 7 New Free Games You Can Claim Now and Keep Forever

I’ve always believed that free is a great deal, and that’s especially true for video games. It’s frustrating to spend money on a game only to be disappointed, so any game, big or small, is worth trying when it’s free. Steam seems to be recognizing this too. While the Epic Games Store has consistently offered free games weekly, Steam hasn’t always been as frequent. However, this year Steam has been making more games available for free for a limited time, and the store now features a growing number of always-free and free-to-play titles.

Steam is currently giving away several games for free! You can add them to your library at no cost, and they’ll remain available as long as they’re featured on Steam. There’s a good selection to choose from, even if you just want to browse.

This week, Steam is giving away several free games. You can download Galactic Brawl, a chaotic multiplayer fighting game; Witch You Want, where you manage a potion shop; The Empathy Algorithm, a story-driven game about talking to an Android; Cellchemist, a creative sandbox game focused on combining cells; DJ Bunny, a 2D adventure where you make music for a festival; Another Day with You, a date-sim adventure packed with mini-games; and The Plant, an interactive story about a scientist and a unique plant.

List of Free Steam Games This Week

  • Galactic Brawl
  • Witch You Want
  • The Empathy Algorithm
  • Cellchemist
  • DJ Bunny
  • Another Day with You
  • The Plant

Galactic Brawl is a fun, chaotic multiplayer game similar to Party Animals, where you battle it out with friends in free-for-all matches and mini-games to win. It features a wide range of quirky characters and silly weapons, like giant fish and fly swatters. On the other hand, Witch You Want is a visual novel with some shop management elements. You’ll make choices in dialogue and build relationships to shape your witch’s shop, her personality, and even find romance.

With The Empathy Algorithm, explore big questions about what it means to be human – like emotions, identity, and ethics – through conversations with an android. It’s a sci-fi visual novel that feels particularly relevant in today’s world of artificial intelligence. Alongside it comes Cellchemist, a unique puzzle game where you experiment with 100 different types of cells and their reactions to solve science-based challenges.

Not everyone enjoys science fiction games, and DJ Bunny definitely isn’t one of those. It’s a 2D adventure where you solve puzzles using music, remixing songs to prepare for a big festival. If you’re looking for something relaxing, Another Day with You is a narrative game centered around dates and mini-games, offering different possible outcomes. The Plant is another story-driven game, this one about the relationship between a scientist and a very intelligent plant. How you interact with the plant will shape the story and lead to various endings.

Epic Games Store Users Have Until February 19 to Claim 2 Free Games, More Coming the Same Day

Check Out via Epic Games Store

Steam often gives away free games, but don’t forget to check what’s available on the Epic Games Store! Right now, until February 19th at 10 am Central Time, you can get Nobody Wants to Die and The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark for free. These will be replaced with Return to Ash and a starter edition of STALCRAFT: X when the offer ends.

If you enjoy cyberpunk stories, Nobody Wants to Die offers a story-focused, first-person noir experience in a bleak version of New York City. You play as Detective James Kara, solving a series of murders while grappling with ideas of immortality and the dangers of technology – common themes in the genre. The other game, The Darkside Detective, shifts gears to paranormal mysteries. As Detective McQueen and his partner, you’ll investigate the haunted town of Twin Lakes in this pixel-art point-and-click adventure.

  • Nobody Wants to Die (Free Now Until February 19 at 10 am CT)
  • The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (Free Now Until February 19 at 10 am CT)
  • Return to Ash (Free from February 19 to February 26)
  • STALCRAFT: X Starter Edition (Free from February 19 to February 26)

Next up are two more releases: Return to Ash and a starter edition for Stalcraft X. Return to Ash is a story-driven game where your choices and relationships determine what happens after death. The Stalcraft X starter pack gives new players weapons, equipment, and other advantages in this large, online, post-apocalyptic shooter set in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. While reviews are somewhat mixed, the game offers an appealing experience with its *S.T.A.L.K.E.R.inspired world, player-versus-player and player-versus-environment combat, the search for valuable artifacts, and intense faction battles.
