Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is ‘Already in a Playable State’

The final game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is almost ready, with the director recently confirming it’s now fully playable.

Okay, so I was super hyped for the February 2026 PlayStation State of Play, like a lot of other Final Fantasy fans. We were all hoping to finally get a look at the next part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It was a bit of a letdown when it didn’t show up. The developers have been saying things are going well and that it’s close to being finished, so it’s frustrating not seeing anything yet!

I was so excited to hear Director Naoki Hamaguchi talk about the last part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake! Apparently, they’re actually playing through it now, but it still needs some polishing. He hinted that we’ll be getting more info about it pretty soon, which is awesome! I can’t wait to finally see how the whole story wraps up.

With the encouraging updates about the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake, fans are now wondering when we’ll get an official announcement and when the game will actually be released.

We’ll likely see the game announced at Summer Games Fest 2026, unless Square Enix decides to do their own separate presentation. Because it’s coming to multiple platforms, it probably won’t be featured in Sony’s State of Play or a Nintendo Direct.

The game is playable now, and we’re currently focusing on polishing it and adding the final touches to create a great experience.

The game is likely to be released in September 2027, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the first Final Fantasy 7. This timeline allows the developers ample time to polish the game and avoid direct competition with Grand Theft Auto 6.

With many games facing delays or cancellations these days, it’s refreshing to hear optimistic news from the creators of a game people are really looking forward to. Let’s hope all the extra development time helps Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 deliver a strong conclusion, particularly since the previous game, Rebirth, had a somewhat disappointing ending.
